Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday, 27 February.
In a field of really nice up and coming pacers, Ms Collins (8) may well be the brightest of them all. An extremely talented filly with it all in front of her she could not have been more impressive winning here earlier in the month. Wide draw to contend with, but any luck and she’s getting home over the top of them.
Selections: 8-4-6-7-3
8. Ms Collins (8) J: Anthony Butt 2×1T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Not a lot of really strong form here, but Conrad H (10) probably boasts the best of it. A winner here two starts back beating Barsukov, he was then fifth in a very good field behind Higher Power last time. Wouldn’t need to go much better than that to be winning this.
Selections: 10-4-9-8-3
10. Conrad H (2) J: Brooke Wilkins 78135T: Derek & Neita Balle
Nice opportunity tonight here for Mr Miki (1) after a string of strong efforts in far better fields of late. Lands the ace draw, but doesn’t possess the greatest turns of foot early so that’s the only concern but if he can hold up enough to be three fence at worst, he’s going good enough to run anything in this field down.
Selections: 1-4-9-7-3
1. Mr Miki (1) J: Zachary Butcher 33243T: Brendon Laidlaw
The quick back up from an excellent first up win at The Park by Confessional (5) might have been just enough to undo him the following week. Given a few weeks in between runs and returns on the fresh side tonight. His best wins this, just needs to bring it.
Selections: 5-1-4-2-6
5. Confessional (1) J: Todd Mitchell 70012T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
Two from two this time in and also since joining the Tony Herlihy barn and it’s all good from Do You Want Me (8). Looks set to live up to a lot of his early potential and even from the wide draw here should have the necessary motor to get the better of this field.
Selections: 8-5-3-1-4
8. Doo You Want Me (8) J: Tony Herlihy 80×11T: Tony Herlihy
Talented trotting mare Belle Neige (6) returns to the track here having not been seen since earlier in the year when running second to Hillbilly Blues. That looks pretty good form for this and even with improvement likely from the run she should be a little too classy for this field.
Selections: 6-4-2-3-7
6. Belle Neige (1) J: Crystal Hackett 32232T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
A tough watch for punters around the final bend last week when he wanted to do a few things wrong, Allamericanplayer (7) gets a shot at redemption here tonight. Better for that first up run and being a little more screwed down might mean he’s a bit more on the job. Class horse of the field.
Selections: 7-8-4-3-5
7. Allamericanplayer (7) J: Anthony Butt 552×2T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Two really strong wins in both runs back from a spell from Final Approach (5) and he’s really starting to look like a trotter on the future on what we’re seeing. Biggest test to date here and he needs to bring the good manners but with them would be awfully hard to reel in once more.
Selections: 5-12-11-3-6
5. Final Approach (1) J: Crystal Hackett 09×11T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
The very talented Mako (4) returns to the track here tonight and will be looking to kick off in winning fashion. Nice trial to ready for this and if he runs anywhere near to his best he might just be a little too good for this field.
Selections: 4-6-2-3-1
4. Mako (4) J: Tony Herlihy 136pxT: Arna Donnelly
