Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday, 13 February.
The manners came to the party last week and Higher Power (4) showed there’s still a bit of winning left to be done with a bold effort for second. No harder here tonight really and with an uninterrupted run should be right in the fight throughout this.
Selections: 4-8-5-6-7
4. Higher Power (1) J: Zachary Butcher 97962T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
A lot better for her fresh up run here a few weeks back, expect Princess Gracy (6) to take a nice stride forward here tonight. Better drawn in a field that looks well within her reach. A confident Zachary Butcher drive should net the right result.
Selections: 6-7-4-1-5
6. Princess Gracy (6) J: Zachary Butcher 24724T: Zachary Butcher
It was always going to take a few starts but it appears the penny is really starting to drop for Brass Razoo (8). Has been great in the last few starts and was particularly good here last week as well. Into a winnable race again and continued progression would be enough to win this.
Selections: 8-10-9-7-4
8. Brass Razoo (0) J: Nicky Chilcott 31223T: Nicky Chilcott
For all that he’s done and all the good horses he’s raced against this should be easy for Sooner The Bettor (6) tonight. Quality animal who will likely head forward to tackle some bigger races in the coming months. Maybe a little vulnerable after a while between runs but class alone takes him close.
Selections: 6-1-4-2-5
6. Sooner The Bettor (1) J: Harrison Orange 04013T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
The big free-ranging style of Muchacho (5) looks pretty well suited to this assignment tonight. He’s just got to be out in free air and running along at the right time to really turn the acid test on and put his rivals to the sword. Always susceptible to late swoopers, but hard to run down.
Selections: 5-8-6-4-2
5. Muchacho (5) J: Harrison Orange x1714T: Zev Meredith
In an award for consistency over the past couple of months, few would better the record of Courmayeur (4). Doing everything but win at the moment however gets a great chance to turn that around here. Wouldn’t need to go any better either, perhaps just settle a little handier early.
Selections: 4-6-2-3-7
4. Courmayeur (4) J: Crystal Hackett 68322T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
A newcomer into the Ray Green and Nate Delany barn, The Night Fox (4) might be the surprise packet here. Has the talent to win a race like this and new surroundings might be just what is needed to make it happen. Worth a good look.
Selections: 4-8-7-5-1
4. The Night Fox (4) J: Harrison Orange 57417T: Ray Green & Nathan Delany
Some really strong efforts of late from It’s Not Kathy (2) and it would appear it is only a matter of time until a victory comes. Gets a golden opportunity tonight with the confidence levels high and a good draw to work from. Might look to dominate from the outset.
Selections: 2-3-5-6-1
2. It’s Not Kathy (2) J: Tony Cameron x6322T: Logan Hollis & Shane Robertson
There’s a motor there, but B D Castleton (1) isn’t quite sure yet how to marry it up to the manners department. Took on race winners last start and trotter away before galloping. Might be better for that experience and if able to put it all together here, becomes the one to beat.
Selections: 1-4-3-6-5
1. B D Castleton (1) J: Tony Herlihy 69T: Tony Herlihy
