Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 27 February.
Couldn’t have asked for much more in a first up win from Sunsoutgunsout (4) and you would expect there to be a bit of improvement in that too. Looks a pretty nice horse going forward and while this is a tougher challenge he can certainly win again.
Selections: 4-5-2-3-6
4. Sunsoutgunsout (4) J: Blair Orange 2×1 T: Steven Reid
Got the punters again last week with a mid-race gallop, but it would pay not to drop Lap It Up (1) just yet. The day everything goes to to plan is the day a win comes. Great chance today in what would be one of the weaker maiden fields faced and if the manners are there, it should be happy days.
Selections: 1-4-6-7-5
1. Lap It Up (1) J: Kimberly Butt 425 T: Derek & Adele Jones
An eye-catching first up effort from Brilliant Chase (3) here in a fresh state when third behind Sunsoutgunsout three weeks ago. Better for that run and quiet trial in between times to keep ticking over. Stand start is the only real query, but handle that and should be winning here.
Selections: 3-2-8-6-7
3. Brilliant Chase (3) J: Bob Butt 8×3 T: Bob Butt
No admirers lost for B D Hall (8) with his strong effort behind Helloveamoment here two weeks ago. Charged through the line very impressively after meeting a few traffic problems. Wouldn’t need to go much better here to grab another win and may well just do that.
Selections: 8-10-1-3-5
8. B D Hall (8) J: Tim Williams 46214 T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Form on the board and good form too gives Candy Cane (7) a royal chance here tonight. Has been in behind some very smart types of late including Scotlyn Crunch last time out when second. Wide draw is helped by scratchings and with a best performance goes close.
Selections: 7-3-5-6-1
7. Candy Cane (7) J: Riley Harrison 83832 T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
All at sea last week, Wilma’s Boy (7) never once looked comfortable. An odd performance. But he is known for those every now and then. Would be just like him to turn it right around here this week and do it all right and treat them to a trotting lesson.
Selections: 7-2-9-5-10
7. Wilma’s Boy (0) J: Bob Butt 39106 T: Paul Nairn
As the proven open class pacer it’s hard to elect anything over The Lazarus Effect (9) here even from the wide draw. Sharp recent trial to ready for this and if he gets forward at any point in the race he’ll take a heap of catching.
Selections: 9-8-3-10-5
9. The Lazarus Effect (9) J: Bob Butt 11212 T: Bob Butt
The Big M, Muscle Mountain (5) returns for his fifth bid at this race and his fourth win. The class factor of the field, he comes in on the fresh side and lands a great draw to go forward and look to take control of things. Own terms and he might just be too classy for a good field.
Selections: 5-4-9-6-8
5. Muscle Mountain (5) J: Ben Hope 82421 T: Greg & Ben Hope
After a couple of niggly barrier draws, Better Be Quick (3) looks well placed here drawn much closer to the markers. Has been good in all three runs back from a spell and should be ready to strike tonight and a confident drive early will help the cause.
Selections: 3-5-6-1-9
3. Better Be Quick (3) J: John Dunn 1×364 T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
