Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 13 February.
The real version of Hawk Touie Louie (4) showed up here last time out and won with a leg in the air and plenty to spare. Tonight we find out just how good he might be taking a pretty sharp step up in grade. Manners the key but with them would have to go close.
Selections: 4-8-3-6-2
4. Hawk Touie Louie (4) J: Bob Butt 3×091 T: Bob Butt
A really nice effort here last week from Tribbiani (7) to find the line with a whole lot of purpose. Better for that too and while back to the stand, if he can get the manners right he’d be pretty hard to catch based off what we’ve seen in the short career to date.
Selections: 7-15-4-13-10
7. Tribbiani (3) J: Tim Williams 12102 T: Kevin Townley
Backed heavily last time out from a horror draw, Better Be Quick (8) was never really in the race. A little easier here tonight, although still drawn wide but with a confident drive to get up on the speed should have the class measure of most of these.
Selections: 8-5-3-7-2
8. Better Be Quick (8) J: John Dunn 01×36 T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
Into winning form again in the last few starts and unlikely to look back anytime soon here’s another great opportunity for Ukraine (7) to keep it going. Really good last time out and the form has been franked from that too. Just needs to get away well and be close enough.
Selections: 7-3-1-6-5
7. Ukraine (3) J: Seth Hill 23311 T: Bob Butt
Put a line through last week’s run for Milou (7) was in a power of trouble from the get go thanks to the draw but put in some really nice work late in the run after hitting a few road blocks. Back onto the front line here tonight and she’s a chance to roll forward early. Dangerous if she does.
Selections: 7-6-3-9-8
7. Milou (7) J: Bob Butt 80817 T: Bob Butt
After destroying a field pretty similar to this a fortnight ago, Pinseeker (2) is back for more. The only difference is the move from the mobile to the stand start but he’s been quick away most of his career so no issues there. Likely to take bad luck out of the equation again and expect him to win.
Selections: 2-5-4-6-3
2. Pinseeker (2) J: Jonny Cox 03141 T: Jonny Cox
With a couple of runs under her belt now, Eurostyle (11) gets the fitness edge on her rivals tonight. Huge off a 40m handicap last week but better served here off the 20m. If she can begin well and perhaps work into the race at the right time she’d be very hard to run down.
Selections: 11-8-6-5-9
11. Eurostyle (4) J: Kimberly Butt 02082 T: Derek & Adele Jones
Nice set up here for Francent (4) from the good barrier draw. She can use her gate speed to advantage and find the front and from there look to roll them along. Better for that run the other night and with a boost in fitness can get over the line first.
Selections: 4-5-7-14-3
4. Francent (4) J: Samantha Ottley 11118 T: Mark Jones
Returned to winning form in fine style here last time out and Wilma’s Boy (16) can certainly go on with it here. Huge motor and might need it too as likely to need to get into the race at some point to put them to the sword. Hard to beat if things go his way.
Selections: 16-2-4-1-8
16. Wilma’s Boy (0) J: Bob Butt 13391 T: Paul Nairn
Thought Hugo (10) snuck into this week’s assignment pretty nicely and even off the second row looks to have a decent chance of success. Just needs that right run into the race at the right time and he can run up to his best and be a major player in this.
Selections: 10-6-7-5-2
10. Hugo (10) J: Sam Thornley 03565 T: John McDermott
Impressive progression through the runs so far from Harry’s Girl (1) and with the aid of the inside draw tonight and fitness and experience on some key rivals, gets a nice chance to make something happen. A trail and a clean shot and you’ll get a good run for your money.
Selections: 1-7-2-3-5
1. Harry’s Girl (1) J: Sam Thornley 542 T: Ken Barron
