The unrelenting nature of amateur driver races should play into the hands of Mr Cash Man. He’s a pretty robust pacer who doesn’t possess great deals of speed but is one who can wind up over a longer distance and really put it to his rivals. Expect that here and he’ll be right in play.

Another member of the famous Jaccka family to step out here in Jaccka Jim (8). He’s got the breeding on side and judging by his trial runs, the family ability is there too. Looks pretty sensible too and while it’s always a risk with maiden trotters on debut if he trots the entire, he goes close.

It took a pretty smart one to get the better of Turn N Burn (2) on debut a couple of weeks ago and that form should stack up pretty well. Lands in a pretty winnable race here and from the good draw you’d expect he’ll roll to the front and look to dominate. Should be his for the taking.

Things went a little awry on Invercargill Cup day for Sonofamistery (8) when some gear broke half way through the race and he was pulled up. The prior win at Addington was simply breath-taking and if he goes anywhere close to repeating that here, he’ll be winning again.

Nothing in this race would match Dreams Pat (7) for out and out ability but most would better him when it comes to the manners department. When he trots and does everything right, he’s devastating and that version here today would be winning this line up without too many problems. Can’t afford to miss a beat though.

Off a second row draw at Gore, you couldn’t have asked for much more from Prosperity (1) first up from a good spell. A strong effort for fourth. Better for that and grabs a massive upswing in marbles today so expect a confident drive early and if he’s on the speed turning for home, he’s a big chance.

First up for a few weeks here, Crackle N Crunch (11) has always been a very nice type and time was always only ever going to make him better. Expect him to enjoy a good time of it on the circuit down here and if he gets any luck at all from the second row he can play a major role here.

The unbeaten NZ career came to an end last time out but He Aint Fakin (4) was far from disgraced. Given a few weeks to freshen up he steps out here in a handy trot with some tough rivals but his Cup Day win still burns in the memory and anything close to that will be good enough to win this.

There’s an argument to suggest Harrison John (5) might have got very close to Republican Party at Addington last time with a bit more room at the top of the straight. Not for a minute saying he would have beaten him but he would have got close. That form stacks up well here and with any luck he can win.

Manners all at sea again for B D Hall (10) at Invercargill last time out but the recovery was excellent and he found the line with a lot of purpose. If he can catch it right today and work his way into the race they’ll be hard pressed holding him out.

There might not be a trotter in the country going better than I Dream Of Jeannie (5) at the moment. She’s in sublime form and her Ashburton win was breathtaking. That sheer speed she possesses makes her dangerous in any race they choose to find for her, including this one against some hardened open class stars. Hers to lose though.

He’s a lovely horse in the making Palladium (4) and he’s really starting to forge a nice career record too from his limited starts. Finds a nice race today to make a serious play for and from the good draw should be punching forward and not looking back. A nice way to end the day.
