Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Cromwell Harness on Tuesday 6 January.
No match for the winner at Omakau, but the effort for second by What’s The Whisper (9) was good enough to suggest that a win isn’t too far away. Was first up then too so should take natural improvement and with good manners will be in play for a very long way.
Selections: 9-6-10-5-2

Off the back of a very good second first up for the career, Enoka (2) has been a little at sea ever since. Hopefully a bit of experience will have helped sort that out because this does look a very winnable race today. Good draw to work from and should be handy throughout and hard to beat.
Selections: 2-4-11-12-10
2. Enoka (2) J: Robbie Close 29p T: Andrew Stuart
Stepped a wheel at the top of the straight and won like a good horse on debut at Omakau and there’s a lot ahead of Cinderella Franco (2). Looks a pretty sharp horse in the making and handled race day conditions really well. Wouldn’t have to go any better to win again.
Selections: 2-1-7-4-5
2. Cinderella Franco (2) J: Gemma Thornley 1 T: Steven McRae
Two massive runs in the last two appearances from Our Twinkle (6) and it’s now only a matter of when, not if, a maiden victory unfolds. Nice set up here from a decent enough draw and if able to find a spot on the markers will leave them chasing a shadow.
Selections: 6-8-7-2-3
6. Our Twinkle (6) J: Brent Barclay 5×322 T: Brett Gray
No doubt that in terms of ability that Harriet’s Moment (9) has more than most, if not all, in this race. She probably just hasn’t quite been in the zone lately but has taken on some really good fields too. Decent drop back in grade here and can play a major role.
Selections: 9-5-2-7-6
9. Harriet’s Moment (0) J: Matthew Williamson 32906 T: Phil Williamson
Big run first up from the new barn by Ramblin Rover (3) at Gore. A little erratic early but really charged through the line late. Better for that run and from the handy draw here today has a chance to roll forward and take control of this and with own terms would be hard to beat.
Selections: 3-2-4-6-13
3. Ramblin Rover (3) J: Hayden Douglas 29964 T: Brent McIntyre
Quite the impression made by Jaccka Jim (9) on debut at Omakau when winning. Nice and professional too. Steps out on the grass track here but without doubt looks to have the ability to go back-to-back to start the career.
Selections: 9-4-7-3-2
9. Jaccka Jim (0) J: Brent Barclay 1 T: Brett Gray
Backed heavily at Roxburgh and beaten but the run for second from Seaside Croft (7) first up from a spell was excellent and signalled a good campaign lies ahead. Front row draw here so gets the chance to roll forward once again and look to control things. Hard to beat with own terms.
Selections: 7-14-1-2-6
7. Seaside Croft (7) J: Samantha Ottley 1x5x2 T: Mark Jones
A few runs under the belt this time in now for One Mhor For Heather (5) and she should be reaching peak fitness levels. Good stand start exponent who should trot onto the lead early and take a positive position. Left to her own devices in front, she’d be hard to run down here.
Selections: 5-7-3-1-2
5. One Mhor For Heather (5) J: Robbie Holmes x9855 T: Robbie Holmes
Tidy enough run at Roxburgh from Amaretto Franco (11) after she got back early. Stable loves winning this race and that get another prime chance here in what is a very even field. A quick beginning today and a run a little closer to the speed and she can win.
Selections: 11-12-14-6-13
11. Amaretto Franco (0) J: Gemma Thornley 02215 T: Steven McRae
Brutal assassination of his rivals at Roxburgh by Kawhi (8) and he’s really in the zone from the new stable. A few more to get around here, but if he was to trot onto the front and be able to roll them along he’s capable of reeling off closing sectionals that will make it very hard to catch him.
Selections: 8-7-13-14-1
8. Kawhi (2) J: Samantha Ottley 56711 T: Mark Jones
Brave run from Tua Lipa (1) at Omakau after being forced to sit parked the trip. No such issue here with the inside barrier draw and is racing well enough that with the right kind of run here and a cold shot at them late a victory can unfold.
Selections: 1-15-14-7-6
1. Tua Lipa (1) J: Ellie Barron 3×323 T: Shane Matheson
Couldn’t have been any more impressive winning at Roxburgh on Sunday and Transonic (5) meets the same kind of field here today from a better draw. Still a little green but if he’s pointed in the right direction and rolling then they’ll be chasing him again.
Selections: 5-9-1-13-3
5. Transonic (5) J: Tim Williams 10121 T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
