Two strong runs on both days at Westport and the landing of the ace draw here should make Carrea Kahu (1) the horse to beat. Improved over both days too and really found the line with purpose on Sunday. Similar kind of field and looks hard to roll.

Only a young trotter on the way up but there’s always been a bit of ability about Luca (3). Comes in here with fresh legs after missing Westport but has shown good ability in workouts and trials. Manners will be key but with them can win this.

But for a hop, skip and a jump at the 100m mark on Sunday, Miss Woodville (5) wouldn’t be a maiden anymore. Had them in serious trouble before getting a little tough in the gait but did well to stay down and narrowly miss. Repeat effort here against the same field should be enough to win.

Probably wouldn’t have expected Captain Publisher (2) to still be a maiden at this point of the circuit. But here we are. Much better on Day 2 when running second but probably still had every chance to win it too. Good draw, so should land on the speed and get another chance.

Was going to land in the perfect spot on Sunday but a gallop from Call Dudley (2) put an end to any hope there. Boxing Day run was very good and should be able to return to that kind of form here if the manners are there. Definitely a strong each way hope.

Got a long way back at Westport on Sunday but the work up the straight from Goodoldayz (6) was really good. Should be a lot closer to the speed this time out and if up and contesting turning for home there’s a strong chance of success.

Back to a front line draw here can be key for talented mare Evangalist (8). Her best is pretty good and if Carter Dalgety cuts the ribbons and lets her slide across then she should lead and get things her own way here. Dangerous if she does.

Went down fighting like a caged tiger in the Westport Cup and kept fresh for today Teds Legacy (4) can go one better. Might look to step to the lead here and bowl them along and he’s such a dour pacer that if he was to get his own terms he’d take some catching.

Chasing a rather rare kind of record today, Premium Player (10) will look to be unbeaten across all three days of the circuit for the second year in a row. Loves it on this side of the alps and won with plenty in store on Sunday too. In the zone and hard to stop.

Got into tight quarters on the home bend on Sunday and galloped but the Boxing Day run from Troubleshooter (2) was good enough to win this. Better drawn here and if able to find a nice trip might have a little too much class for them late.
