Plenty to like about the most recent effort from One Eye Bandit (16) and while he’s far away from being the complete package, he is good enough to handle this field here today. Will have to work at some stage to get around them but his class has to take him close in this even field.

Two public runs in the past month have netted two very strong victories from Lap It Up (5) ahead of today’s debut. Looks a trotter with a bit of a future and given the good manners seen in two trials so far should be able to trot onto the speed here and dominate this field.

Two really strong efforts to open the career from Route Sixty Six (5) and he looks a maiden who won’t be held by the grade for very long. Maps up nicely here from the good draw and on the speed throughout he should be fighting out the finish in a good maiden field.

Off the back of two really strong efforts in the last two appearances, Kushite Warrior (3) is looking close to another win. Made a mistake at Methven, but the recovery was huge. Mobile conditions today with a good draw can turn things around and is a big chance today.

After a couple of really strong confidence building runs, Kingaroy (13) was wiped out at the start last time out so forgive that. Has looked primed to grab a victory at short notice this time in and finds the right race today. Just needs a nice run through from the second row to be close enough.

A nice run first time up in grade from Real Velocity (6) last time out at Rangiora. Horse on the up with a good enough draw to work from and the right man in the bike. Should be close to the speed throughout and hard to beat if things unfold.

Joined in for fun and ran past them with ease at Methven and that kind of speed from Henry Winkler (8) will stack up really well here. Right man in the bike too and if he can plot the perfect path and be close enough to them then should deliver again.

In terms of ability, not many here would match up to Dark Ghana (15). Problem is, he tends to beat himself more often than not. Not a bad set up here off the second row as he can stay out of the rush early and then look to wind up late and with his speed, he can run them all down.

Bested by a pretty smart one on debut at Methven, Captain Tyron (11) gets a different kind of set up here from the second row but looks good enough to make own luck and work into it at the right time. Good field though, so far from past the post but does look the most likely to win.

Two runs back from a spell for Cocktails And Caviar (15) and there has been merit in both of them. Beaten by a smart one last time in Amass, who then went on to win a Harness 5000 so the form stacks up. Should be able to make his own luck here and play a major role.

Things have been a little more genuine from Mighty Flying Lou (5) this time in and he’s closing in strongly on another victory. Still can be a little susceptible late in his races, but if he’s held up for long enough should be able to fight everything off in this line up.

Really sharp effort in behind a couple of good ones in the Harness 5000 from Royal Rock (5) and he gets back onto the grass here and onto a track he’s won on in the past. Good manners should land him on the speed and if he was to get things his own way then he’d be hard to hold out.

Two starts for two wins from the new barn for Take The Miki (10) and there is no doubt he’s destined for better things over the coming months. Niggly draw here, which leaves him open to some bad luck, but if he can negate that at any point and find clear air, he should be too good for this field.
