Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 12 December.
Big and bold victory here last time out from Eun Sogno (3) when beating Sonofamistery, who in turn dished out a pacing lesson last week. A really progressive young pacer who has wonderful staying attributes and from the good draw tonight should be hard to stop.
Selections: 3-8-5-1-6
3. Eun Sogno (3) J: Carter Dalgety 62671 T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
He’s a little bit shifty, King Charles (5) – you just can’t quite trust him yet. A bit like the racehorse version too who has a bit left to learn. Big motor though and if he turns up here and trots all the way then he will break maiden status on some of his recent efforts.
Selections: 5-3-1-4-2
5. King Charles (0) J: Seth Hill 64d22 T: Brendon Hill
At massive odds, Stylish Lustre (6) nearly caused the upset at Orari on Saturday. A big effort for second. Shouldn’t have been that price ever in the first place but it did signal a return to form. Small field here suits as do the good stand start manners. On the speed and well in play tonight.
Selections: 6-5-1-2-4
6. Stylish Lustre (6) J: John Morrison 38672 T: Ivan Court
An off-colour day on Show Day for brilliant trotting mare Midnight Diamond (7) who was found to be crook after the race. All reports suggest she’s back on track now though and if she can put it all together here then she can definitely return to winning form.
Selections: 7-9-10-8-3
7. Midnight Diamond (7) J: Sam Thornley 11119 T: Ross Houghton
Tidy enough resuming run here last week behind J T Boe by Cocktails And Caviar (8) and he will have taken plenty of benefit out of the effort too. A nice horse with a future in front of him and he can certainly make his presence felt in this field.
Selections: 8-2-9-10-5
8. Cocktails And Caviar (8) J: Tim Williams 136×6 T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Steady progression over the past month has Katelin (3) ready to dip her hoof into the winners’ circle tonight. Has been good in behind some nice talents and most importantly has the manners to put herself in all the right places from which to win this.
Selections: 3-7-1-2-6
3. Katelin (3) J: Colin DeFilippi 2×532 T: Colin & Julie DeFilippi
A decent slide down in grade tonight for the very capable Next Level (11) who was here last week in behind J T Boe. He’s got some work to do off the 10m handicap but is building back to peak fitness and with a bit of luck in running can finish over the top of this field.
Selections: 11-12-7-10-6
11. Next Level (1) J: Leo O’Reilly 05585 T: Warren Stapleton
A strong run of recent efforts from Master Class (3) have him very deserving of a winning turn. Great stand start horse who should trot onto the speed here and with Carter Dalgety in the bike he’s going to get every chance to stack them up and then dash away here.
Selections: 3-2-9-8-10
3. Master Class (3) J: Carter Dalgety 43422 T: Kimberly Butt
He’s got a couple of Gr.1 assignments ahead of him in the coming weeks but don’t expect that to stop Republican Party (8) from trying to flex his position as NZ’s best pacer here tonight. Will have to work for it from the draw but if he can get around to parked then he should win.
Selections: 8-4-6-7-1
8. Republican Party (8) J: Carter Dalgety 11162 T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Savaged in front at Orari on Saturday, Son Of Doc (2) got no peace but fought bravely for fourth. Back on the all weather tonight which can be a help and from the good draw he gets a chance to find a good position again and be a strong winning hope.
Selections: 2-3-7-4-5
2. Son Of Doc (2) J: Blair Orange 60×24 T: Rodger Austin
