It’s another big midweek of racing at Caulfield Heath, with eight races on deck and all eyes once again on Victoria’s premier Wednesday meeting.
We’re set for a cracking day weather-wise — fine conditions, the rail out 2m, and a track that should play perfectly ahead of Ladbrokes Cranbourne Cup Day this Saturday.
Our best of the day lands in Race 7, where a Lucy Yeomans-trained mare is chasing a well-deserved hat-trick. And as always, we’ve got you covered with our top tips and best bets for every race below.
ANGELIC RISE (5) gets a pass mark for her first-up run on Champions Day a couple of weeks back.
The Hayes-trained filly jumped cleanly to find the front down the Flemington straight but was left flat-footed late on a heavy deck, fading to finish 6.7 lengths behind Calamari Ring in the Inglis 2YO.
Back on the Heath, she’s already shown her ability with a slick trial win, and with dry conditions and Michael Dee perfectly drawn, expect a much sharper showing this time around.

AITU (4) was set to go around at Morphettville last Saturday before being scratched, and this looks a much more suitable assignment — provided he finds a bit of room along the rail.
The Tagaloa three-year-old was outstanding two back under lights at Pakenham, taking up the running at the turn and showing real grit to hold off the challengers, scoring by three-quarters of a length over 1400m.
Things didn’t quite fall his way at Flemington on Cup Day, stepping up sharply to 1800m and copping some interference when the pressure came on, eventually finishing a few lengths off them.
Back to a more forgiving trip here, and with Jake Noonan taking the reins, he’s every chance to bounce straight back.

PUGLIA (9) is still searching for that maiden win, but she looks ready to strike second-up for Archie Alexander.
The Cable Bay filly returned in fine style at Sale over 1400m last month, charging home after copping a check around the 300m to grab second behind Baywatch.
She was only getting warm over the final furlong, and her late sectionals suggest there’s plenty more to come.
With a good draw, Declan Bates aboard, and dry ground in her favour, she looks primed to break through here.

There looks to be a bit of intent around FUROSSHI (4) this week.
The Street Boss mare backs up quickly after finishing runner-up in a similar race last start — a run where she looked home and hosed after bursting clear down the centre, only to be nabbed late by Mr Magnus.
The stable’s shown its hand by engaging Mark Zahra, and from a soft draw, she gets every chance to go one better.
Back on firmer footing and carrying the same 58.5kg, expect her to be right in the finish.

HUSTLE IN HEELS (5) couldn’t have returned any better three weeks ago at Cranbourne, making every post a winner to score by half a length.
The Bel Esprit mare was in control throughout, only asked to lift over the final 100m, and responded perfectly under a smart Jamie Mott ride.
That was her first run below 1200m, so as long as she’s not chasing further this time, she looks well-placed to go back-to-back — especially returning to the Heath, where she won stylishly on debut last year.

OCEANS ABOVE (6) backs up quickly and looks poised to improve on last week’s effort.
The Reece Goodwin-trained six-year-old was enormous late, storming down the outside after giving the field nearly 10 lengths head start, clocking some sharp closing splits to finish fourth.
A wide draw left Jason Maskiell with few options that day, but from the rails draw under Craig Williams, a similar turn of foot should see him go very close this time around.

ENCHANTED JENNI (3) has been kept on ice with her sights firmly set on the hat-trick.
The Lucy Yeomans-trained mare was all class at Cranbourne five weeks ago, bursting through a tight gap along the rail to put away Coco Jen — who’s since franked the form with a smart win at The Valley.
She does rise 4kg here, which is the slight query, but with a freshen-up, a soft draw, and Beau Mertens back aboard, she’s got the form and polish to measure right up again over the mile.

TENNESSEE BOUND (4) returns three weeks between runs and looks to keep her unbeaten record intact for Ciaron Maher.
The Written Tycoon mare was dominant last start at Cranbourne, where Ben Allen took her straight to the front and never looked back — opening up a four-length margin around the turn before cruising to the line.
She’s also been nominated at Cranbourne on Saturday, but this looks another ideal stepping stone. Still on the rise as a four-year-old, she’ll take plenty of running down again here, even with 59kg on her back.
