Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday, 28 November.
Threw away victory at Cambridge two weeks ago, but Words (8) can make amends here. Is often her own worst enemy in races but likely to look to roll across them here and take control of this. If she can relax and do everything right they might not run her down.
Selections: 8-5-4-3-2
8. Words (8) J: Andre Poutama 1×632T: Greg Shirley
After turning beast mode on them at Addington three weeks ago, Look To Da Stars (10) arrives back in the north with the confidence levels right up. Very talented trotter when right and if they’ve ironed out a few issues should win this as well.
Selections: 10-5-2-8-9
10. Look To Da Stars (10) J: Andre Poutama x8451T: Mark & Nathan Purdon
Lovely arrival on the racing scene with two strong efforts from Black Beauty (2) and should be ready to go on and salute now. Matty White is kicking plenty of goals and with a nice barrier to work from expect them to be in it for a long way.
Selections: 2-7-3-4-6
2. Black Beauty (2) J: Matthew White 32T: Matthew White
In a strong vein of form at the moment and chasing three on end, Stone Cold (3) has found another race right within reach. Good manners and a high cruising speed means if able to find the front that it’s going to take a good effort to better.
Selections: 3-4-5–6-2
3. Stone Cold (1) J: Sailesh Abernethy 52311T: Jason Teaz
A nice wee slide back in grade for Double Parked (6) here tonight. Doesn’t win them out of turn but always around the action and often in very good fields. Tonight is an opportunity to dominate and should really be saluting.
Selections: 6-2-5-1-3
6. Double Parked (6) J: Tony Herlihy 4×519T: Tony Herlihy
The drums were beating that Hillbilly Blues (2) might be in for a good campaign and the fresh up win certainly backed that up. A clinical performance. Bit harder here but off the front tape and with improvement likely should still be the one to beat.
Selections: 2-10-7-4-6
2. Hillbilly Blues (2) J: Tony Herlihy 614×1T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
Back up in the north after a rather luckless run in Canterbury, The Surfer (6) looks a strong hope tonight. No luck in the Junior FFA on Cup Day but good enough at both Ashburton and Kaikoura to enjoy this challenge tonight.
Selections: 6-4-5-7-3
6. The Surfer (3) J: Tony Herlihy 25696T: Arna Donnelly
Experience and manners on side, Te Ahi (5) looks worth a play here. Has done nothing wrong in the career to date and while there’s some smart ones here, there’s enough in what we’ve seen to suggest a win would be no surprise.
5. Te Ahi (5) J: James Stormont 44143T: Graeme Rogerson
