Whanganui Greyhounds Tips & Preview | Friday 1 August

Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 10 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday, 1 August.

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 1
7 Bacardi Night
Race time:

Bacardi Night (#7) beat 5 Stormy End (#5) into third when winning a qualifying trial in a competitive 18.08s here last Friday. The latter found the line strongly though & with a better beginning can flip that result.
Selections: 7-5-6-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 2
5 Thrilling Gordon
Each Way
Race time:

Thrilling Gordon (#5) surged to an impressive c1 win at inflated odds when last presented at this track. This is harder as he faces a couple of c3 chasers but the small field aids his style & the odds are tempting again.
Selections: 5-4-3-6

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 3
3 Not Okay
Tip of The Day
Race time:

Not Okay (#3) pushed Fergie’s Girl (#5) close after a slow start here a week ago then was nailed on the line down the straight on Tuesday. Expect another close battle.
Selections: 3-5-4-2

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 4
5 Big Time Lime
Race time:

Big Time Lime (#5) made amends for her miss a fortnight ago with a front-running win last Friday. Has to go on top again but no guarantees.
Selections: 5-4-2-3

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 5
7 Johnny Football
Race time:

Johnny Football (#7) remarkably hasn’t raced on this track since winning the group one Hatrick Classic here at the end of March. Has had a successful diet of distance racing since. Should pick up where he left off but Big Time Brave (#6) will give him something to chase.
Selections: 7-6-5-8

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 6
2 Big Time Theo
Race time:

Big Time Theo (#2) posted the best time of his career here last week when holding out a decent field. Solid second since down the straight track.
Selections: 2-5-6-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 7
6 Boom Dynamite
Race time:

Boom Dynamite (#6) won the group one NZ Futurity when stepping out here at the end of June. Beaten favourite twice since at Cambridge but should put this field away at short odds.
Selections: 6-8-2-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 8
2 Big Time Vitara
Race time:

Big Time Vitara (#2) didn’t show much last start but this is effectively a double drop in class & she has needed the recent racing. Hawkes Bay Half (#6) has thrived on the straight track to date. Inexperience cost him here last Friday but he should be better for that.
Selections: 2-6-3-5

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 9
6 Big Time Dixie
Race time:

Big Time Dixie (#6) downgrades on fair fifths. Can lead this line-up throughout.
Selections: 6-7-8-2

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 10
6 Big Time Tricky
Race time:

An early bump took the sting out of Big Time Tricky (#6) seven days back. Fitter for the run & can find the lead in this. Big Time Kenzie (#5) drops two classes & probably needed last week’s outing.
Selections: 6-5-3-7
