The Indian Open traces its roots back to 1964 when Peter Thomson won the inaugural event but really kicked off in 2015 when it was granted European Tour status. The likes of Matt Wallace, Stephen Gallacher and Marcel Siem have since won the event.

Eddie Pepperell famously described the DLF Golf and Country Club as being designed by Satan with Matt Wallace saying every hole is a double bogey waiting to happen. It is an arduously long course with trouble everywhere so being long, avoiding trouble and being able to get up-and-down is key.

Frenchman Romain Langasque finished T-5 here last year and should be around the mark again. He is playing some good golf with seven Top 40 finishes in his last 11 starts. Langasque ranks 10th in Scrambling and 12th in Bogey Avoidance. He is a class player who can win his second DP World Tour event.
Young Spaniard Angel Ayora again looks suited by a very long course and can run a race. Ranks 3rd in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and 12th in Driving Distance. Was a little disappointing in Singapore but his form is very good. Has posted five Top 25 finishes in 10 starts on the DP World Tour since coming up from the Challenge Tour.
John Parry is a highly underrated Englishman who is always a chance in this level of events. He finished T-36 in Singapore but has had a win, a runner-up and two more Top 25s since December last year. The key to his game is ranking 6th in Bogey Avoidance. Parry also ranks 12th in Scrambling. Looks a fabulous play this week.
Englishman Marcus Armitage has the short game and temperament to succeed here. He ranks 4th in Scrambling and 7th in Bogey Avoidance and in his current form, he is a major player at big odds. He has two Top 5 finishes in his last five starts.
Joel Moscatel has struggled this season but he is another course fit worth backing. Ranks 7th in Driving Distance and 10th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee. Worth a ticket to make the Top 20 and Top 40.
Six Americans tee it up this week and Johannes Veerman should be odds-on. He leads this field in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee.
There are four Italians lining up this week but Francesco Laporta seems the pick due to his short game. Ranks Top 15 in Scrambling.
