Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 8 November, 2024.
Threw away a winning opportunity over 520m last week when running wide on the home bend. Made amends on the straight track midweek & 305m might be the ideal trip just at the moment. 7 Hurry Higgins has broken 18 seconds which no other dog in this field has done & he comes in fresh. Exotics booster.
Selections: 4-7-6-1
Trialled quickly here before being checked immediately out of the traps on the straight track on Wednesday when resuming. Should deliver today.
Selections: 3-7-4-5
Stepping back up to 520m after a series of solid sprints. Has run quick times over the middle distance earlier in the year. Each way play in an open affair.
Selections: 5-4-3-8
Not easy to catch on the right day but he downgrades off a handy fourth. 6 Big Time Martin ran up to surprisingly buoyant market expectations on the straight track two days ago when second up after a long break. Odds appeal today.
Selections: 3-6-1-2
Had last week off after two career best performances. Hatrick looks on although 5 Big Time Kenzie ripped off a sub seven second opening sectional last Friday.
Selections: 7-5-4-3
Distant but good fourth as a c3 against He’s All Go & company last week. Meets a competitive but far easier field.
Selections: 1-5-3-7
Halved in quote last week & delivered in a time that would test this field. Can make a case for most of them in this as the market suggests.
Selections: 6-5-4-7
Left it late to grab 4 Big Time Buzz to deliver her bonus maiden win. They look the leading fancies despite stepping up in class. 1 Reggie ran virtually the same time as Honky Tonk High when second on the same day so is worth including in exotics.
Selections: 6-4-1-3
Shock leader last week when mastered by a group one champion. Opportunity for an overdue win. 3 Space Boy will be better for his two outings since a spell & the closer draw brings him into discussions tonight.
Selections: 5-3-7-8
Probably should have won last start but he has been absent since so there was likely an excuse. 2 Lockwood Loop is the one to beat on ability but his poor box manners have been costly three times out of four on this track to date.
Selections: 5-2-3-7
Outstanding win here four starts back but it has gone all wrong since so she downgrades. Two of those misses have been at Addington & she began ordinarily then tangled here in between. 7 Manhattan has been the shortener today in his first visit to Hatrick. Did beat Lime home in a Galaxy heat at Addington last week.
Selections: 6-7-2-1
Canterbury visitor with an outstanding record here in higher grades. Has been OK over longer trips recently.
Selections: 5-4-8-3
