Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 5 July, 2024.
Led on debut before being pushed wide by the winner then was bumped badly on the home bend. Should have the measure of this field.
Selections: 1-6-5-3
Matched a gun in the early stages last week but was only fair after. This is within her grasp but she’s short enough in the market. 6 Vodka Reckon was unlucky early here two starts back before a solid second at Manukau. In quaddie.
Selections: 1-6-2-4
No chance with the winner at Manawatu but her run was good enough to take this. 1 Thanks Maude comes in fresh five weeks after a distant but decent second on this track. Quaddie back-up.
Selections: 3-1-2-7
Posted an overdue maiden win here in a tidy time before being swamped down the long straight at Cambridge. Looks up to the rise in class.
Selections: 5-2-7-1
Beaten on merit by 7 Goldstar Hans last Friday but the latter dog has raced again since so going with the fresh legs.
Selections: 6-7-2-3
Battled bravely when narrowly beaten midweek. Posted a good 30.30 win from box 6 the last time she was here four starts back. 3 Chip’s Revenge did well to run second from box 8 last week. Better from closer in.
Selections: 7-3-2-1
Checked across the top when threatening in her first look at the track. Happy to go again with her.
Selections: 3-7-6-4
Led for a long way when a close fourth in a fine form race ten days ago. Has a horrible record on this track but she trialled well enough here in the middle of last month. This is her best chance to change the stats. 2 Big Time Redeem looks good enough to cope with the rise in class. Quaddie must.
Selections: 3-2-5-1
Won in this grade here two starts back then led for a long way at Manawatu.
Selections: 2-3-4-1
Brilliant 375m win at Manawatu on Tuesday in his downgrade run & is more than capable around here. 7 Russian Ahead drops back from the group one Futurity into c3. Wide draws have challenged her to date but the 6 dog should help her in the early rush.
Selections: 1-7-2-4
Fresh up win at Cambridge was encouraging for her new big syndicate. Has to establish a decent margin on dogs like 2 Big Time Thad.
Selections: 5-2-3-1
Posted his fifth group one win here last week when completing 10 from 10 on the track. Should be beating 4 Blazin’ Master again.
Selections: 5-4-1-8
Beat 1 Goldstar Dynasty at Manawatu & they are leading contenders on this track even though Silky has only saluted once here. 9 Goldstar Koda should make an impact off the bench.
Selections: 2-1-9-3
Was in contact a few times from a wider alley at Auckland & a bump in the home straight cost her a better placing in a blanket finish. Solid second in her only start here in April. 6 Big Time Mahi is very fast when she’s on which she didn’t appear to be last Friday. Had an excuse the time before. Keeping safe in the quadrella.
Selections: 2-6-3-1
Was dynamic in defeat at Manawatu. Slick winner in his only sprint here. Anchor.
Selections: 5-6-7-3
Gutsy 457m win on Tuesday & had a look around here last week. On top but short enough in the market. 5 Goldstar Phoenix has looked good in the CD. Each way value.
Selections: 6-5-8-4
