Commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his selections for every race at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 21 June, 2024.
Scrambled at the start then was hampered at the first bend but she found the line well enough when fourth last Friday. Finds the right field to quit maidens today.
Selections: 4-3-1-7
Poor start cost him a winning chance when dropping back to 305m but his recovery was good & he can begin a whole lot better. 1 Swift Shadow displayed good early speed when qualifying at Manawatu & this shorter trip should suit at this stage. Her two siblings have picked up early wins.
Selections: 3-1-8-7
Found the lead from a wider draw last week & was only picked up late. Might be a touch stronger again today & that will be all he needs.
Selections: 3-5-4-6
Southern visitor downgrades off a fair fourth & returns to the track where she won in a slashing time in December. Fascinatingly open field.
Selections: 3-2-1-4
Took time honours last Friday with a brilliant leap. Did have better conditions than earlier in the night when 6 Big Time Sonic beat 1 Big Time Zola but she should extend them at good odds just the same.
Selections: 4-6-1-3
Fit, strong Canterbury visitor gets the right draw for him in a field he has the measure of on paper. 2 Thrilling Wyatt downgrades to a much easier assignment. Was within two lengths of Blazin’ Master three starts back.
Selections: 8-2-3-6
Smashed to clock here two starts back then dominated a handy 660m field at Manawatu on Tuesday. Should make it four straight.
Selections: 1-2-5-8
Incredible young talent bagged his fourth group one title last start. Is unbeaten in eight starts on this track. 1 Russian Ahead is a fast trapper that was checked out of the race from a wide draw last Friday. Inside alley makes her a place play.
Selections: 4-1-7-2
Prodigious talent that is unfortunate to be racing in the time of He’s All Go. Has won on all five tracks he has competed on & can do it from any draw. 8 Johnny Football made his best beginning yet when scoring in the fastest time of the night. Beat Federal Infrared in his only other race here.
Selections: 6-8-4-5
Comfortable win in this class at Manawatu midweek. Not the easiest to follow at times but he’s in a consistent run of form at present. 4 Big Time Dixie jumps in class. Don’t be put off by her slow time last start as she raced in the worst of the conditions.
Selections: 2-4-1-3
Drops back into a grade where she should be competitive again having had enough racing to have her close to the mark. 2 Mimi built on two black book thirds to score in style. This doesn’t look beyond her. 6 Thrilling Carlos clocked 17.70s when winning a trial over this short trip in April.
Selections: 3-2-6-9
Solid second last Friday & drawing under the two dog is key to his chance tonight in a wide open affair.
Selections: 1-5-8-2
