Whanganui Greyhounds Tips & Preview | Friday 17 May

Commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his selections for every race at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 17 May, 2024.

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 1
3 Mow Cow

Black book third on Tuesday when roaring into third after being checked back to last at the first bend. Hasn’t won in a long time but should be finishing faster than the favourites.
Selections: 3-5-1-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 2
7 Star Boy Express

Showed good speed mid-race against stronger opposition over 520m. Should find the drop back to 305m for the first time to his liking at this stage.
Selections: 7-4-3-6

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 3
3 Big Time Taniwha

Strong dog was forced wide early on last Friday but found the line typically well for third. Should get a more economical trip. 6 Opawa Turbo continues to cost himself looking for the rail from wide draws. Smaller field should help him.
Selections: 3-6-4-1

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 4
3 Big Time Paris

Ran into trouble when trying to improve at Manawatu. Looks much better suited here at this stage of her career. Anchor.
Selections: 3-5-6-2

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 5
2 Big Time Zola

Back in the zone across the last fortnight & is far too fast for her opposition if she’s in the same mood.
Selections: 2-9-8-7

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 6
1 Big Time Splash

Stumbled after an early knock from a squeeze box a week ago. Tidy win here prior & she can use the ace draw. 2 Big Time Tama has been searching for an inside draw so keep safe. 7 Big Time Joker is better than this class so should pick up a win soon although the wide draw isn’t ideal for him.
Selections: 1-2-7-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 7
7 Big Time Nico

Found c1 sprint company much easier last week & delivered at a short quote. Should repeat although the two middle dogs aren’t easy to get around.
Selections: 7-4-5-6

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 8
8 Big Time Lauren

Found the run home at Addington tough going but returns to a track where she’s three from three & has found the reserves to win in tidy times. 1 Long Non White beat a quality c2 field on premier night at Addington. 7 Rapaki Rocks ran an enormous fourth in c4/5 company at Manawatu in his first start this year. Big drop back to c3 but it is a nice field all the same.
Selections: 8-1-7-3

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 9
8 He’s All Go

Checked off the winner’s heels & was flushed very wide in a feature at Addington. Back home, drawn wide he looks unstoppable. Through all multis.
Selections: 8-7-5-1

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 10
7 Space Boy

Group two winner & group one placed this course & distance. Class should get him home although 5 Reckless Eric & 2 Big Time Brynley are hard fit for this trip & might be worth covering for a percentage in quaddies.
Selections: 7-5-2-4

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 11
4 Big Time Brandy
Tip of The Day

Narrowly beaten here three starts back & has been good in the north since. Overdue.
Selections: 4-6-5-7

Whanganui Greyhounds Race 12
8 Big Time Mahi
Each Way

Solid second in a stronger field last Friday. Should be winning this from an ideal alley.
Selections: 8-6-4-1
