Went huge in his first two starts early in the season but his mistakes at the start were costly. Getting back to the mobile, even from an ugly draw, we get some good value to find out how good he is.

Has got form around nice horses all through this campaign. Draws well. Usually the manners are good. If he steps like he can, I think he can give them plenty to chase.

Quality 3YO filly who wouldn’t have been out of place in the slot race, The Ascent, on Show Day. Victim of circumstances last time out. Ignore that..She can get a sweet trip from a good draw here and use her high speed to advantage to win this.

Tough 3yo that’ll enjoy the rough n tumble of Cup Day. He gets a slight grade drop. Has shown gate speed previously, and I’d expect him to go forward from 6. Nice trial today (6/11) to prepare.

Going for the Kiwi factor, Zachary Butcher to defend the Kiwis and beat the two Aussie favourites. Drawn a great barrier out wide. If he can step faster than the two Aussies, and find the front, he’ll take beating.

The formline is better than it looks and I think she’s a good horse. First up this campaign finished well alongside Jaarffi and we know what that horse has done since. Next start fell out of the gates and almost dropped the rider but recovered and flew home to miss by 3L. Would have beaten some in this field with a better run, and there’s been good form coming out of that race. Up to 1300m should be perfect now and the odds of $6.50 to win and money back the place are hard to resist.

Has run two really good seconds to start her career. Savabeel steps up to 1600 and Andrew Scott labelled it to me the other day so that enough for me. $2.80 $1.45.

$4 and $1.75. Pretty consistent prep and got the win last start. Both wins have been at 1400m. Sticky draw this time but the horse gets back anyway. Good track. Ready to go back to back.

$4.60 & $1.55. A nice staying mare who has had two starts this time in with a fresh up 6th at Waverley over 1400m followed by a 2nd over 2000m in R75 company at New Plymouth. She is third up over 2200m back in grade and has a 2kg claim to assist. Should be hard to beat.

Has just been waiting for a firm track and should get conditions to suit on Saturday. Trainer Bill Thurlow is flying at the moment and Craig Grylls, fresh from an enforced break, will be hungry to pay his bills and pay the believers.
