The weekend’s best bets from across the Boys Get Paid community.
Ellerslie Race 5 | Looks another very good 3YO for Wexford. I also like Bourbon Proof and it was a toss of the coin. Went for more value with Checkmate who won impressively last start over 1400m, beating Saxs & Silks, who won easily at Te Aroha this week. The start before on debut, charged home over 1400m to get over Levakia and just miss winning. Up to 1500m looks perfect and we get Warren Kennedy on to get the job done at $5.
Ellerslie Race 6 | I thought it was an excellent fresh up run in a hot field behind some really nice ones. Has won second up and on the track. 54kgs and a good barrier should see her fighting out the finish.
Ellerslie Race 7 | If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Beat Habana and punters last start and no reason he can’t do it again. Third up record isn’t amazing but a good draw, good track, good jock, good quote is enough for me.
Ellerslie Race 3 | A Snitzel filly purchased for $400k at the Magic Millions sale in Australia. Makes her debut off the back of a lovely trial at Waipa ten days ago with a facile win over 850m. Taking on some experienced 2yos but has the ability to make a winning debut.
Whanganui Race 7 | Looks ready to strike this week after a good hit out on the track last Saturday. $11 juicy odds
Alexandra Park Race 3 | Great debut. Had to do a fair bit of work to get to the top which set it up for a powerful run from Bar Louie. Was put out after that run and would likely have taken improvement from the break. Gets the 1 barrier draw which it should be able to use and be far too good for this lot.
Addington Race 9 | She has improved with every run in this filly. Was simply massive on Show Day. Was three wide with cover from the winning post then had to cover extra ground when the three wide line stopped and her main rivals for Friday night had already skipped clear at the 400. Her last 100m on Show Day was impressive, eating into the leaders lead and taking good ground off them. A big chance to turn the tables here.
Alexandra Park Race 7 | Best horse in the race by a stretch. Wiped out at the start last time but excellent after that. Beat most of these two starts back and with a bit more luck this week should deliver
Addington Race 3 | First up run produced a tidy win, and last start she went huge for third over the mile at Ashburton, and in a quick time. She should be able to hold up from 1 and possibly hand to gate flyer Salute. Either way she’ll be getting an economical trip. Tougher field but is racing really well.
Addington Race 10 | Been in great form lately. Looks to be a bit of speed off the front and that could help him get into it late in the piece.
