In more recent times, Castletown, who won in 1992, also secured three Wellington Cup victories. Jezabeel, the 1998 winner, made history by also winning the Melbourne Cup that same year. Shez Sinsational, the 2012 winner, was a dominant mare with multiple Group 1 victories. Who Shot Thebarman, the 2014 winner, went on to win the Sydney Cup and place in several Group 1 races, including the Melbourne Cup. The 2024 winner, Mahrajaan, continued the tradition of excellence in this esteemed race.
