Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the 11 races at the Winton Harness meeting on Friday 30 October below:
Stepped out on debut in a red-hot Addington field and did everything right on debut did Arlo Jones (8). Had shown plenty of ability in trials prior to that run and if that can translate to race day today then even from the wide draw he’s going to be the one to beat.
Selections: 8-6-7-3-5
8. Arlo Jones (8) 8
She chased valiantly behind a pretty smart one a fortnight ago and if Rakataycan (1) can produce something similar here today then you’d expect her to be the one to beat. Comes up with the ace draw which is a huge plus and expect her to try and make full use of it.
Selections: 1-4-3-2-5
1. Rakataycan (1) 646×2
Couple of super runs up at Addington in the last two appearances from Majestic Me (6) and if anything should find today’s assignment a little easier. Most importantly, seems to be doing everything right at the moment which is of huge advantage. Ticks a lot of boxes for this.
Selections: 6-3-8-4-5
6. Majestic Me (6) 35713
Down from Canterbury for this and coming out of some strong maiden fields, Rogue Wave (3) looks well placed today. Has been finding the line strongly but gets the right chance to take this race by the scruff of the neck and dominate it from the outset.
Selections: 3-11-12-9-5
3. Rogue Wave (3) 736
A really good winner two starts back at Methven, El Draego (5) took on a pretty smart field at Addington last time out but drops right back in grade here for what looks to be a very winnable race. Even field and with Wilson knowing the horse well should be one of the leading players.
Selections: 5-1-2-6-3
5. El Draego (5) 22617
Had to cover a little extra ground last week from a wide draw but an inside draw looks much more suitable for Captain Christina (2) today. Has always looked better than a maiden and today provides a good opportunity to drop that tag with a confident early drive.
Selections: 2-1-6-12-9
2. Captain Christina (2) 44005
Really smart filly Indulge Me (9) has a massive target in a couple of weeks but even considering there is likely to be some caution, she should still have no problems in getting the better of this field. Has to come off the second row, but that might be easier than the outside of the front. Best horse and should show it.
Selections: 9-8-7-4-6
9. Indulge Me (1) 11221
A very good late effort at Addington last week from Kings Choice (1) behind Brewster Baker. Found the line with a lot of purpose and looks to be closing in on another win. Nice draw to use here and if able to step well and then hold up and be handy throughout then looks the one to beat.
Selections: 1-5-6-3-4
1. Kings Choice (1) 29533
Nothing wrong with any of the recent runs of Rackmacknra (8) especially given the quality of the fields he’s been in. Wide draw here, but that might actually suit as he’s a big free-rolling type who should have plenty of room to move and he can out-tough them all here.
Selections: 8-3-1-5-6
8. Rakmacknra (8) 1144
Superb effort in behind Prestigious on Monday at Ashburton by Tarragindi (9) and even off the big handicap he should find this challenge a whole lot better. A quick beginning and he’ll eat up most of the margin and from there work his way into it and be a little too good for his rivals.
Selections: 9-8-7-5-6
9. Tarragindi (9) 22105
Never too far away from the action, Santiago (2) maps beautifully here today. Good draw with the right driver on to have him on the top end of proceedings and if he can be running as they come around the last bend he might just dash away and grab a well deserved win.
Selections: 2-5-7-1-10
2. Santiago (2) 43244
