King Charles III Stakes 2026 Tips, Predictions & Best Bets

King Charles III Stakes 2026 Tips, Predictions & Best Bets

We have King Charles III Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 1 1609m race at Randwick on Saturday.

King Charles III Stakes odds have Autumn Glow at short odds, as she looks to add another win to her record.

Best Bet
#5 Autumn Glow @ $1.30

Autumn Glow is our clear top pick after producing two outstanding wins this preparation. She returned in the Group 1 Winx Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on 22 August, defeating Sheza Alibi by 1.4 lengths. She then stepped up to the mile in the Group 2 7 Stakes on 19 September and won by another 1.3 lengths, beating Aeliana.

What stands out is how effectively she’s handled the step up in distance. Her latest victory showed that she can sustain her finishing effort over 1600m, which is exactly what she’ll need in this Group 1 contest.

Barrier 4 should allow James McDonald to settle her comfortably, and we’re hoping she doesn’t have to do much chasing behind Pride of Jenni. That’s the only thing that could stop her, but McDonald won’t let the mare out of her sights.

Third-up today and won third-up in the past. First-up favourite; won by 1.4 len in the G1 Winx Stakes at this track on August 22 over 1400m on a soft track defeating Sheza Alibi with 57kg at $1.70. Last start favourite; won by 1.3 len in the G2 7 Stakes at this track on September 19 over 1600m defeating Aeliana carrying 57kg at $1.16. Champion mare who will need to be on her game.

Next Best
#1 Ceolwulf @ $3.40

Ceolwulf is included in our King Charles III Stakes predictions at $3.60. He finished second in the Epsom Handicap over 1600m at Randwick on 3 October, beaten 1.75 lengths by God’s Window while carrying 59kg, which was a big effort.

Before that, he finished third behind Autumn Glow in the 7 Stakes, beaten 1.5 lengths. Both performances indicate that he’s holding his form well against quality opposition.

The inside barrier is a significant advantage. Chad Schofield should be able to save ground throughout the race, and Ceolwulf’s established 1600m form makes him a big danger.

He’s a two-time winner of the King Charles III Stakes, so it’s his race, and he can’t be overlooked because of that.

The race before that 3rd in a small field in the G2 7 Stakes at this track on September 19 over 1600m, 1.5 len behind Autumn Glow carrying 59kg at $15. Ready to win and ticks plenty of boxes today.

Best Roughie
#2 God’s Window @ $21.00

We’re taking a chance on God’s Window at around $31.00. His latest performance makes him an interesting runner at the odds, particularly because he has already beaten one of the leading chances over the same distance.

God’s Window won the Group 1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick on 3 October, defeating Ceolwulf by 1.75 lengths over 1600m. That was a big finish to win, and although he carried only 50kg, it was still an excellent win.

He will need to improve to beat the likes of Autumn Glow and Ceolwulf at the weights. He’s giving the best horse in Australia weight, but based on his Epsom win, he could achieve the feat.

Second-up was well back until straightening; raced back then made ground from the turn; won by 1.75 len in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track on October 3 over 1600m on a rain affected track defeating Ceolwulf with 50kg at $26. Has gone to a new level but tested in this grade.
