Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the six races at the Cambridge Harness meeting on Wednesday 4 November below:
A cracking introduction to the racing game by No Intentions (6) last time out when running second. Looks a pretty quick winner in the grade based off of that. No certainty to do everything right just yet though so needs a little caution tonight. Manners the key.
Selections: 6-4-2-7-1
| 6. No Intentions (6) 2 | |||
| Sound introduction to racing when runner-up 15Oct. Good each way chance. | |||
First starter from the Arna Donnelly stable, Samurai (1) has looked above average in his public runs ahead of tonight’s debut. Comes up with a sweet draw to work from and if able to hold up early and pick and choose the right battle should be there at the finish.
Selections: 1-2-9-10-4
| 1. Samurai (1) | |||
| Lazarus newcomer. Created good impression with 8Oct trial success. Win chance. | |||
In a great vein of form at the moment is Barsukov (1) and he lands in this race beautifully given the strength of some of his recent assignments at Auckland. Should punch out from the draw and stay on the speed and if he gets a chance at the top of the straight he’ll take it.
Selections: 1-3-4-7-6
| 1. Barsukov (1) 30125 | |||
| Racing well, mobile start & drawing barrier 1 ticks a lot of boxes. Big show. | |||
Nice opportunity here for Waltzing With Miki (7) to take the bull by the horns and make this race his own. Loves getting up on the speed and putting the pressure on and shouldn’t have too many problems getting there today. Looks a great bet.
Selections: 7-8-2-1-6
| 7. Waltzing With Miki (7) 61563 | |||
| Bold placing in better company last week. Include as one of the main chances. | |||
Nothing wrong in either of the two starts to the races so far for Alta Toni (3) after backing up a strong maiden win with an unlucky effort for third here last week. Had to wait for the gap and when it came the race was done. Might look to control this and can hold on at a nice each way price.
Selections: 3-8-4-1-2
| 3. Alta Toni (3) 13 | |||
| Backed up good debut win 15Oct with a bold placing 22Oct. Each way chance. | |||
Things went a little pear-shaped first up for St John Eight (4) up at Auckland when he was looking to get into the race. Happy to forgive that and think he sets up pretty nicely here. Confident drive early should have him on the speed and hard to hold out.
Selections: 4-3-7-8-6
| 4. St John Eight (4) 305×9 | |||
| Galloped in Auckland resumption. Nice workout win prior to that. Worth a nibble. | |||
