We have Caulfield Guineas tips and predictions for the Group 1 1600m race at Caulfield on Saturday.
Caulfield Guineas odds have Warwoven and Blind Raise favoured to win, in what should be an exciting race.
Blind Raise looks the best bet in the Caulfield Guineas, especially with the inside draw and Blake Shinn in the saddle.
The Busuttin/Young-trained colt has won both starts this preparation, including a dominant 2.75-length victory in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude over 1400m. He travelled beautifully throughout that race before putting a gap on his rivals, with Tornado Valley chasing him home.
The step to 1600m looks ideal, and barrier two gives Shinn plenty of options. He should be able to settle close to the speed without having to burn too much petrol early, which could be important against a quality field.
At around $3.70, there is enough value to make him our top Caulfield Guineas tip, and he could mature into a very nice middle-distance horse, and even a Cox Plate type.
| 5. Blind Raise (2) J: Blake Shinn 57kg 19×11 T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young | |||
| Third-up today. First-up favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 1.75 len in the LR Mitchell McKenzie Stakes at Sandown-Hillside on September 5 over 1300m in soft going defeating Wolf Gap carrying 57.5kg at $3. Second-up favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 2.75 len in the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude at this track on September 19 over 1400m defeating Tornado Valley carrying 57kg at $2.40. Dominant latest and gets map favours, can upset the Sydney colts. | |||
Warwoven is the obvious danger and deserves enormous respect after producing one of the best performances of his preparation in the Golden Rose.
He powered away to win the Group 1 by three lengths at Rosehill, having already won the Run To The Rose before that. He is chasing a hat-trick and has quickly established himself as one of the best three-year-olds in the country.
Rachel King has barrier 6, which should allow her to settle wherever she wants. The major question is simply whether he can reproduce his Sydney form at Caulfield and stretch out to 1600m.
The odds have drifted after touching $2.10, but it’s not too concerning.

| Chasing a hat-trick. At the latest run won by 3 len in the G1 Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill on September 26 over 1400m defeating St Gotthard carrying 56.5kg at $6. Before that tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by a long-neck in a G2 The Run To The Rose at Rosehill on September 12 over 1200m defeating St Gotthard carrying 57kg at $8. Awesome win in the Golden Rose, clearly the one to beat off that. | |||
Tron Bolt isn’t paying “roughie” odds, but we can’t see a roughie winning this race, and he should be included in Caulfield Guineas predictions.
His first two runs this campaign came over 1200m and 1400m, and he was never really suited by the sharp tempo. He finished fifth in the Golden Rose last time out, beaten five lengths by Warwoven, but this race should allow him to settle and build into the contest.
The wide barrier is the obvious concern, but Chris Waller has been targeting this race, and Tron Bolt should be peaking third-up.
If he gets the right run into the race, $8.00 is worth taking.

Second-up 5th of 12 in the G1 Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill on September 26 over 1400m, 5 len behind Warwoven with 56.5kg at $10. Run off his feet latest, he’ll be peaking third up to a mile. | |||
Punters get value odds with our Caulfield Guineas SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Blind Raise Top 2, Warwoven Top 2, and Tron Bolt Top 3, which pays $12.00 for our three-runner SRM.
We need the favourites to run the quinella, but they have a good chance. They are clearly the best horses in the race, and with Tron Bolt likely to hit the line well from the back of the field, he could run third.
