Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday 12 June.
After a continued string of very good efforts of late, Patrick Mahomes (2) lands in a race tonight where he should have plenty to say. Good manners will have him on the speed early and as long as he can hold a forward spot he’ll be fighting out the finish in an even field.
Selections: 2-7-9-1-11
2. Patrick Mahomes (2) J: Peter Ferguson 56332T: Peter & Vaughan Blanchard
A Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan trained debutant, Dino (5) has had more than a few drums beating for a while now. Looks a pretty progressive pacer with a lot in front of him and while taking on race night for the first time he looks set to jump straight into the winners’ circle.
Selections: 5-4-6-9-3
5. Dino (5) J: Scott Phelan T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
Excellent when second first up from a spell here last time, Viscount Mackendon (12) looks a quick winner this campaign. A bit of traffic to navigate here off the 10m handicap but has a class edge on most in this line up and with a good beginning won’t be too far off them.
Selections: 12-9-5-2-11
12. Viscount Mackendon (12) J: Crystal Hackett 122×2T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
A nice return to form of late from Miss Brabant (2) and looks ready to find the winners’ circle once again here from a handy draw. Gets a leading junior as well which is always a big bonus and with a sweet trip on the top end can have the final say tonight.
Selections: 2-5-6-4-1
2. Miss Brabant (2) J: Crystal Hackett 70035T: Brian & Gareth Hughes
A superb fresh up win here last month from Turn O The Tide (7) signalled that a good campaign is in the reckoning this time in. Had to do a power of work first up, but never shirked it and won impressively. Given some time to recover and should be ready to go again. Can make own luck and still win.
Selections: 7-2-11-8-10
7. Turn O The Tide (7) J: David Butcher 280×1T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Returned to his best form with a brilliant Addington win last time out but it’s very much a case of feast or famine with Look To Da Stars (8). If the right one turns up here tonight then he’ll probably win again, but he is prone to not being able to string two big performances together in a row so a bit of caution is advised.
Selections: 8-7-3-9-6
8. Look To Da Stars (8) J: Mark Purdon 85×71T: Nathan Purdon
Two starts this campaign for two big seconds from Incentivise (8) and should be primed to go one better here tonight with the fitness levels peaking. Can make own luck and might have too from the wide draw but no surprise to see him rolling home ahead of the pack.
Selections: 8-9-12-10-5
8. Incentivise (8) J: Mark Purdon 6xp22T: Nathan Purdon
Really nice improvement with experience from Shards Avatar (5) in the two runs since beginning the career. Is going to win races, but will take a while to really cotton on to what the trotting game is all about. That said, enough there to suggest a maiden win is close and won’t be far away here.
Selections: 5-7-1-6-9
5. Shards Avatar (5) J: Matthew White 63T: Matthew White
