Feature racing heads up the highway from Sydney on 2026 The Coast Day at Gosford!
It’s the biggest program of the year on the Central Coast, and with races like the time-honoured Takeover Target Stakes and Gosford Gold Cup contested alongside the $500,000 Coast Quality, it’s not hard to see why.
You can find our complete Gosford tip sheet below.
St Gotthard improved through a handful of trials prior to debuting and justified a short quote to get up at Warwick Farm last month. Having been kept up to the mark with another trial since that race, something like this looks the next logical step to take.

We haven’t seen Glorious Moments at the races since July, but he was unbeaten in two starts last time in, winning by just under two lengths at Canterbury when resuming before a dominant four-length win in BM72 company. Having trialled up well, anything close to those performances would find him hard to beat this week.

It Stays In Vegas was a model of consistency throughout 2025, winning two of eight starts, placing a further four times and finding form around some credible opposition. With the benefit of a nice trial under his belt and from a good draw, I think he can be in the finish.

Crepe Myrtle has missed placing just once in eight trips to the races since debuting and after receiving good late interest ahead of her return last month, she ultimately finished a length and a half third behind the likes of Golden Straand and Sweethearted. She’s yet to finish worse than second at this point of her preparation and looks a bit of value in the market this week, in my opinion.

Mr Miller has only made two appearances at the races since debuting, but after stamping himself as one to follow with an eye-catching performance to get up under James McDonald at Warwick Farm, he was only denied by an impressive Enamorada last time out. Fitter third-up and out to the mile, he’s my best bet on the program.

Thrice turned in some fine performances in the UK and Ireland during his debut prep, winning in Group 3 company most notably. He took up the running at Randwick at his Australian debut a fortnight ago, and while his condition did give out a little later, he’ll undoubtedly improve for it. With some relief in the weights under Zack Wadick, he can take up the running again from a low draw, and it’s also important to note that he remains unbeaten at this point of his preparation.

King Of Roseau has picked off plenty of nice races throughout his career, but there’s a case to be made for King Of Roseau having found career-best form this year, having added the Magic Millions Cup and the Liverpool City Cup to his CV. Having been freshened before trialling up nicely again ahead of Saturday’s return, he looks ideally placed once more.

The Coast shapes as an ideal feature race for a horse like Lord Penman. He was an eye-catching winner over 1400m at Rosehill when resuming back in February, and while Lord Penman hasn’t won another race in three subsequent appearances, he’s been far from disgraced. He’s yet to win a race above 1500m, but I thought his last two performances suggested getting out to the mile would suit, and from a nice low draw he can settle a little closer to the speed.

Land Legend turned in a vastly improved performance at Flemington a fortnight ago and looks capable of winning a race of this quality. The Group 1 winner went off the boil throughout 2025, but the change of stables from Waller’s to Maher’s looks to slowly be working, and he hit the line to finish second behind Too Darn Discreet last time out with 61kgs in tow. He’ll carry only 57kgs this week, we know that any rise in trip will suit and at around the $10 mark, he’s another whom we can have something on each way.

La Roja can return a winner on the last on The Coast Day. The I Am Invincible mare hasn’t been seen at the races since February and finished the runner up in all three starts during that late summer/early autumn prep. With a nice trial under her belt, something like this looks an ideal campaign launchpad.
