Canterbury in Sydney’s west hosts eight metropolitan races this Wednesday, April 22nd.
You can find this week’s complete Canterbury tip sheet below.
Decalogue was only just denied in maiden company two starts back, while he was last seen finishing a credible fourth in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes. This is obviously a sharp drop in class from that race and in peak order, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
3. Decalogue (1) J: Zac Lloyd 57.5kg 2×524T: Ciaron Maher
Events has only made one appearance at the races so far, but she finished off well to finish a half-length second behind Hellabella in the Rosehill maiden. With natural improvement for that experience, she’s well placed to go one better this week.
4. Events (1) J: Jason Collett 56.5kg 2T: Ciaron Maher
Loera showed ability at the trials prior to debuting and worked home well behind Compensation at Rosehill earlier this month. She strips fitter and with even luck in the run, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish again.
11. Loera (6) J: Tim Clark 55kg 2T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott
Wrathful has improved with each of five runs back from a break, filling the minors at his three latest, including an eye-catching run over 1500m at Rosehill last time out. In peak order this week, further out in trip and under James McDonald, I think he gets plenty of ticks.
2. Wrathful (8) J: James McDonald 59kg 70332T: Chris Waller
Spanish Artist has only made two appearances at the races so far, but after recording a dominant four-length victory down at Kembla Grange last month, she was only just denied when stepping up in grade and into metro company last time out. Fitter third-up and under Timmy Clark, she’s drawn ideally and is my best bet on the program.
3. Spanish Artist (4) J: Tim Clark 60.5kg 12T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott
Winston Hills hasn’t been seen at the races since October, but he was a model of consistency last time in and managed to win in a race not dissimilar to this one at Warwick Farm, most notably. He’s a winner at this point of his preparation previously and has had the benefit of a couple of recent trials.
3. Winston Hills (7) J: Zac Lloyd 59kg 2318xT: Matthew Smith
Fiorenza has won just one of her six career starts so far, but rarely has she been far away, and she is open to plenty of improvement this week following a credible run to finish fourth in BM72 company at Hawkesbury when resuming. She strips fitter for that run and should get her chance this week under Rachel King.

Supermassive made just three appearances at the races during his debut prep, but after breaking his maiden here second up, he wasn’t disgraced behind the likes of Plaintiff at Rosehill in December. He’s trialled up well and looks forward enough to win fresh.
2. Supermassive (5) J: Tim Clark 61kg 215xT: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott
