Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Straight Greyhounds meeting on Tuesday, 2 September.
7 Pushing Buttons qualified in a c5 time at Hatrick. This is a very different track but her ability should see her make a winning debut in this field.
Selections: 7-6-8-4
| 7. Pushing Buttons (7) T: Lisa Cole |
Determined win in this class by 7 Side Swipe last start & this doesn’t look any harder.
Selections: 7-4-5-3
6 Reckless Eric won the corresponding race at the last straight track meeting running down 4 Big Time Vanilla. 5 Big Time Brutal won on the same day in a similar time. Might need all three at least in the quadrella.
Selections: 6-5-4-3
5 Big Time Tawny finished a bold second behind a smart dog when downgrading. Goes well enough down the straight. 8 You Sassy Minx will appreciate the drop in class but she can be tardy at the start as can 7 Big Time Muster but he is at tempting odds. Quaddie spread to the top four.
Selections: 5-8-7-1
7 Loveable Rogue has won eight straight with no signs of stopping. 2 Big Time Ashton has been sharp down the straight before & won a group one heat on Friday.
Selections: 7-2-4-3
6 Double Cash was able to win first up in this class despite an early bump. That followed a fast maiden win on debut. Should contain this field.
Selections: 6-8-4-5
5 Keep On Dreaming’s slow start proved costly last week as he peaked on his run after storming to the lead. Short quote again but he should have some competition from the downgrading 4 Envious Ivy.
Selections: 5-4-2-7
3 Big Time Iggy doesn’t win often but is racing well enough & has been saving her best for the straight lately. The last time she was here she ran second in a decent c2/3. Should be putting this c1 field away.
Selections: 3-5-8-7
5 Ray the Doyen ran the fastest time of the day at Cambridge when scoring by a massive margin. Clearly the fastest dog in this but is new to the straight track so might need 8 Grasscutter Moe on the quaddie ticket too.
Selections: 5-8-7-3
6 Big Time Slim hasn’t raced for a month but was in good order & would probably win if near to that form. 8 Adobe Don has been off the scene for five weeks but could celebrate his century in the best way in this open affair. Quaddie spread.
Selections: 6-8-3-7
6 Rockin’ Roger is a handy hound but his slow starts finally caught up with him here a fortnight ago. The one to beat although 4 Chef’s Mate goes well here & won at Cambridge last Thursday while 5 Talkin’ Trash also has quaddie claims.
Selections: 6-4-5-7
2 Big Time Fern downgrades off the back of an ok effort at Manawatu. Yet to win here but he has been racing in far stronger fields in the past. Should take this.
Selections: 2-5-7-4
