Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Straight Greyhounds meeting on Tuesday, 29 July.
Mojito Dreams (#2) got tangled up in traffic mid-race on Friday. Prior seconds including one here suggest that he should quit maiden ranks today.
Selections: 2-3-6-4
First Arrive (#6) has taken money at times including on this track a fortnight ago. Wears blinkers & is a work in progress but she might not get an easier chance. Need a few in the first leg of the quadrella though.
Selections: 6-7-5-4
Drive Angry (#8) is resuming from a long layoff but trialled well here on July 15 & he runs this track as well as any in this field. Big Time Iggy (#3) downed a weak field on Friday. Pushed a promising dog here the time before. Each way.
Selections: 8-3-2-6
Big Time Moony (#4) beat a similar field from the front a fortnight ago. Needs a decent break on them again to hold out a few of these.
Selections: 4-6-3-5
Big Time Martin (#6) ran the same time as the straight track benchmark Loveable Rogue when winning in the middle of the month. Mario Wave (#5) & Big Time Talea (#4) are talented straight trackers coming in fresh. Keep both safe in the quaddie.
Selections: 6-5-4-3
Kookaburra Bob (#8) faces a decent drop in class for a dog that finishes strongly down the straight. Keep On Dreaming (#3) is up in class after his maiden debut win. Will have to lift to remain unbeaten.
Selections: 8-3-4-2
Big Time Theo (#5) beat some c4s & a c5 when winning over 520m at Hatrick on Friday. Runs the straight well too. Big Time Clarke (#2) is yet to win here but went close a fortnight ago & continues to offer juicy each way odds despite winning on Friday night.
Selections: 5-2-8-6
Star Boy Express (#8) is well placed in this after finishing third in a strong restricted age race here mid-month. Solid third behind a group one winner at Manawatu since.
Selections: 8-3-7-5
Loveable Rogue (#7) is seeking six straight & it’s hard to make a case against him despite the talent on show in the field.
Selections: 7-6-2-5
Hawkes Bay Half (#2) looked lost under lights for the first time on Friday when he charged into traffic after a slow start. Unbeaten in three down the straight. Should make it four with Chef’s Mate (#4) looking the only genuine danger.
Selections: 2-4-5-8
Rockin ‘ Roger (#7) rocked to a predictable maiden win on debut. Meets a moderate c1 field so should go on with it.
Selections: 7-8-6-5
Not Okay (#3) pushed a promising chaser despite a slow start on Friday. Has won both his races here although in moderate times. Cliff Top Cutie (#5) was unlucky on Friday. Should make the podium in this field.
Selections: 3-5-7-8
