Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday, 20 June.
Hawkes Bay Half (#2) backed up his front-running qualifying trial win with a debut victory down the straight despite an early check. Up to 520m today which could change things in an inexperienced field but his Mum won a group one Wanganui Cup here.
Selections: 2-7-5-4
Brighton Wave (#3) is up in class from his overdue win last week but he’s been much higher before. Very even field for the quaddie opener where the despised outsider 7 Bossy Adobe has to rate a chance.
Selections: 3-2-1-7
Master Grylls (#7) is a Canterbury visitor dropped in class & distance when registering a win in this grade on Monday. Had a horror run when he ran in a maiden over 520m here in November. There wasn’t much between the sisters 4 Cliff Top Cutie & 2 Sugar Sugar when they provided the quinella in this class last Friday.
Selections: 7-4-2-5
Cliff Top Vinnie (#5) has put in two solid seconds since dropping down from c5 including in the fastest race here a week ago.
Selections: 5-2-7-4
Big Time Lime (#3) swung very wide when leading & gifted the race to a stronger dog last week. Building to a win.
Selections: 3-7-8-4
Big Time Maestro (#6) is drawn a little wider than is ideal but 5 Big Time Toby can help early. No dog is really ideally drawn except 1 Hey Driver which should get a clear run to the crucial first bend.
Selections: 6-1-5-3
Romantic Rebel (#1) hasn’t won since the last time he was here in late March. Has had a horror run of wide draws since. Looks well placed although it is the strongest Futurity heat with three of the leading contenders doing battle.
Selections: 1-5-3-2
More Magic (#4) made good ground when second to a quality chaser last week. Closer draw helps him. 3 Zestful is a classy Canterbury visitor that won his only prior visit last September.
Selections: 4-3-2-7
Big Time Bam (#8) is back up to c5 after his runaway win. This is certainly harder but he did clock the fastest time of the night a week ago. Need the two favourites in the quadrella though.
Selections: 8-7-5-2
Big Time Bullet (#5) did well to get to second after jumping last. Can begin better & will have too, to justify favouritism. 6 Big Time Grande beat a weaker c2/3 field last Friday but her time on the night was faster than Bullet posted. Opening odds of $11 appeal.
Selections: 5-6-8-3
Not easy to catch Big Time Chur (#3) on the right night but he wouldn’t have to be any better than last week to win this.
Selections: 3-2-4-7
Big Time Potter (#3) bumped a rival at the top of the straight last Friday which probably cost her the win as 2 Bora Bora ran past. 8 Opawa Jordan returns here off the back of two Manawatu wins in c2. Not daunted by this opposition.
Selections: 3-8-2-6
