The third women’s major of the year comes to us from Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas with the staging of the Women’s PGA Championship. Mao Saigo and Maja Stark have won the first two majors of the year while Amy Yang looks to defend her crown.

Fields Ranch East is set to be a feature of PGA of America events in the next decade with two men’s PGA Championships, another two women’s and a senior scheduled for the course. It is a long course so distance will be key off the tee. It is much more a plotter’s course than anything though so looking at iron play as the key factor here.

Rio Takeda has a tremendous profile for here. Ranks 2nd in GIR, 3rd in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and 5th in Strokes Gained: Approach. Finished 2nd at Erin Hills in the US Open, probably the best guide for here. Won the Blue Bay earlier in the year. Finished Top 11 eight times already this year.
Akie Iwai is a Japanese rookie who has three Top 10s in her first season on the LPGA. Akie Iwai ranks Top 12 in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green, Strokes Gained: Approach and GIR. Looks a great prospect and a big chance here.
Korean rookie Ina Yoon has enjoyed a very good first year inducing a T-14 at the US Open, her fourth Top 25 of the season. She ranks 4th in Strokes Gained: Approach, 7th in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and 12th in Driving Distance.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen is a big hitter who ranks 10th n Driving Distance. Also ranks 3rd in GIR so should be well suited to the course. Finished 17th at the 2024 Chevron so correlation form holds up. She has finished Top 15 in three of the last five PGA Championships.
