Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 10 races at the Whanganui Straight Greyhounds meeting on Monday, 14 April.
Unknown on the green grass but he should claim gold in this on ability.
Selections: 6-4-8-2
Has needed recent racing & was OK when fourth in a rare visit to Hatrick on Friday in her downgrade run. Likely leader & hopefully she’ll be a bit stronger today. 8 Zero Chill narrowly beat Sister at Hatrick. Solid third in her only attempt on this track three starts back.
Selections: 2-8-5-6
Can mix his starts but was better last week when a close third. Might need top four selections in the quadrella however.
Selections: 7-6-5-2
Three tidy wins to begin his career. Unknown on this surface but he still stands out like a beacon in this field. 5 Bora Bora is the logical quaddie back-up if required.
Selections: 6-5-7-2
The current benchmark down the straight track having backed up his feature Betcha Straight Up Dash win with another here eight days ago.
Selections: 8-2-3-6
Not quick early but warms into her work & hasn’t been out of the money in ten starts here. 3 Chef’s Mate was less than a length off the Minx last week & has won in this class at Cambridge since.
Selections: 6-5-3-7
Big win when resuming. Unknown here but hard to risk. 4 Opawa Keith is fast enough to take this but he had his chance to win last time.
Selections: 5-4-2-6
Fine fifth in the straight track feature before steaming home for second last Sunday. 3 Big Time Maestro was a strong Manawatu winner after a decent second here. 5 Star Boy Express beat Blue in the feature but middle draws are tricky for him. Good field.
Selections: 8-3-5-6
Recent downgrader was close up when fourth. Should have the measure of this field.
Selections: 6-2-3-4
Decisive winner at Cambridge after running into third here in a good form race. Gets the narrow nod in a race full of chances. 5 Big Time Tawny was a black book second at Manawatu after going close here a week ago. Need a few to clinch the quad here.
Selections: 7-5-4-6
