Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 10 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 3 January, 2025.
Beat all of the same rivals when second last week at massive odds cutting across early from the same draw. 7 My Own World was hampered by Trixie in the early rush then checked again at the first bend last Friday. Placed since down the straight track.
Selections: 8-7-5-3
Ran on well for third in a stronger c2/3 race. Slick winner here three starts back.
Selections: 5-8-3-4
Improving with each run in this campaign. At backable odds in a wide open field. 5 Thrilling Carlos can run the time to win this but lets himself down out of the traps.
Selections: 7-5-4-8
Has the best record in this race by a long way & will be improved by his fresh-up run down the straight track on Tuesday. 5 Big Time Vitara has had a similar schedule to Axel & will find sprint company easier. Value quaddie back-up.
Selections: 2-5-3-4
Back to open class with a solid front-running c4 victory at Manukau. Similar start gives him the crucial inside run. Need quaddie cover though with the 2 & the 4 at least.
Selections: 1-2-4-6
Fitter for his two recent races in much stronger company. Easing in class gives him the nod.
Selections: 3-6-5-4
Clearly had an issue on November 1. Fair trial at Manawatu before Christmas. Can test this field fresh. 3 Big Time Roman opened at terrific each way odds. Forget the straight track miss. 5 Big Time Kenzie is a bit short in the market but is a quadrella must.
Selections: 7-3-5-6
Did well to get up for second at Manukau after striking much trouble in the opening 200m. Should turn the tables on 7 Russian Ahead in this.
Selections: 3-7-8-6
Up in class but this isn’t a strong c1 & her maiden winning time would be enough. Need a spread in the quadrella though as the market suggests.
Selections: 4-3-1-8
Had traffic issues last week but should land on the pace in this race so is a leading prospect. The three favourites should be enough to bring home the quaddie.
Selections: 4-7-8-2
