Whanganui Greyhounds Tips & Preview | Friday 27 September

Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 27 September, 2024.

Whanganui Race 1
8 More Magic

Won a qualifying trial in a swift 17.57s last Friday heading home his sister Streets of Paris comfortably. 520m shouldn’t be a problem on breeding. 5 She’s Ready is ready to break maiden status but may have to wait until Wednesday.
Selections: 8-5-7-6

Whanganui Race 2
2 Big Time Clarke

Clocked 17.86s when third in More Magic’s qualifying trial. Only 5 Thrilling Nelly looks capable of that at present. Winner comes from those two.
Selections: 2-5-6-7

Whanganui Race 3
2 All Over Rover

Clearly superior on ability so should live up to his name. Quadrella anchor & multi-builder.
Selections: 2-6-5-4

Whanganui Race 4
2 Mimi

Unlucky last week running out of room when a likely challenger. Finds the right race to record her tenth career win. 1 Big Time battle downgrades. It’s a battle to find him on the right day but surely he’s up for the fight in this field.
Selections: 2-1-5-6

Whanganui Race 5
6 Big Time Sonic
Tip of The Day

Has been the dominant sprinter here over the last fortnight. There were no excuses for his rivals last week so sticking with the same result.
Selections: 6-8-1-5

Whanganui Race 6
5 Brockie’s Luck

Returns to a track where he has run some swift times & been group one placed. Speed either side of him so he will have to be at his best early. Has swapped results with 6 Fool Me Once at Manawatu lately. 7 Space Tron looks the value after his distant but eye-catching third last Friday.
Selections: 5-7-6-4

Whanganui Race 7
7 Typical Arlo

Beat a better field in this grade last week so should be on repeat.
Selections: 7-3-8-4

Whanganui Race 8
5 Goldstar Hogan

Forgive last start failure as he was squeezed back to last then ran into further trouble when trying to improve. Bold third this course & distance the time before might be the best pointer in an open affair. 3 Big Time Ultra downgrades & draws closest to the rail. On of the best opportunities to back the TAB rug on bonus back night.
Selections: 5-3-8-4

Whanganui Race 9
2 Big Time Butler

Might have won here last week if he hadn’t tangled on the turn when challenging. Was leaned all over in the early rush at Manawatu. Deserves some better luck & a winning turn.
Selections: 2-4-6-7

Whanganui Race 10
1 Big Time Axel

Downgraded & delivered in this class at Manawatu. Races this track well enough to grab the bonus win but it’s a talented field. Might need the top four on one ticket in the quaddie.
Selections: 1-7-5-4

Whanganui Race 11
4 Big Time Dixie
Each Way

Enhanced her impressive record on this track with a win last Friday in a quick enough time to contain this field.
Selections: 4-5-2-1

Whanganui Race 12
1 Big Time Morant

Was hassled all the way to the first bend when favourite. Now finds himself as the only c3 in a c2 field & a cleaner run looks assured.
Selections: 1-4-7-3
