Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all eight races at the Palmerston North Greyhounds meeting on Tuesday 27 August, 2024.
Class chaser stepping up beyond 600m for the first time. On top but quote has got very short. 8 Nail It is another Canterbury visitor making his distance debut. Racing as if it should suit. Double your money for top two.
Selections: 4-8-3-7
Won at Addington on Friday when very short in the market. Winning margin was inflated by bother in behind. 7 Key Figure ran a similar time to his brother when second down home on Friday. Quaddie cover.
Selections: 4-7-6-3
Flew out & won easily in c2 on Friday at Hatrick so she looks a grading special in c1 today. Was bumped off balance when handy turning for home here last week. 7 Opawa Helmet is downgrading. Trialled in a similar time to what Dixie won in on Friday. Quadrella back-up.
Selections: 6-7-1-4
Unlucky here two starts back when checked back through the field from a winning position. Distant third in a strong form race at Cambridge. Can handle the c3s in the field on times but 1 Big Time Keegan & 8 Big Time Terry appeal for exotics.
Selections: 4-1-8-7
1 Thrilling Aggie: Blew her winning chance by running wide on the home turn here last Tuesday but still ran a creditable third. Trialled well enough at Hatrick on Friday. On top but including 6 Old Pal in the quaddie as he won a similar race well five starts back.
Selections: 1-6-2-8
Slick win in this class at Addington on Friday. Ran a slashing second to the impressive Goldstar Murphy in her only prior visit here.
Selections: 2-6-5-1
Was costly in c3 but ran a slick second on the downgrade at Hatrick so an overdue win looks imminent. 4 Paperback ran a super second here a week ago holding out today’s market mover 5 Goldstar Hogan then she delivered at outsized odds at Hatrick. Paying attractive each way numbers again today.
Selections: 7-4-5-2
Backed up his searing second to the brilliant Blazin’ Master with a best of day win here last week then rattled into a close second in the fastest time of the night at Hatrick. Genuinely shocked he has opened third favourite.
Selections: 8-2-7-6
8 Opawa Ryder: Arrives here for the first time in 20 months on the back of fast wins at Addington & Ascot. The dog to beat even on foreign sands.
Selections: 8-5-4-3
Has a fantastic record on this track & was an easy winner at Cambridge two starts back so am going to overlook Friday’s distant last when she veered wide after a bump. 6 Rapaki Rocks looks overs in a field of many chances given his fast course & distance win at the beginning of last month. Has been over more ground since. Could need the field in the quaddie to be safe.
