Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 12 races at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 26 July, 2024.
Outstanding debut win at Manawatu on Tuesday & there was nothing to suggest that he won’t be as effective on this track against most of the same dogs. 1 Smart Bowler is a fresh face. Ran into third on debut over 375m at Cambridge in what has been a strong form race. She qualified here over the sprint trip. Place play.
Selections: 8-1-6-2
Has shown good early speed before weakening in two public appearances over 457m at Manawatu so the 305m distance here looks more suitable at this stage. 8 Loveable Rogue would have won races by now if not for his trait of running very wide. Quaddie essential.
Selections: 2-8-4-3
Followed easy maiden win here by pushing a form runner at Cambridge. 1 Big Time Tractor was a solid second on Tuesday. His only win came in his only other box 1 start on debut.
Selections: 7-1-3-8
Has downgraded since being turned sideways at the first bend here last Friday. Fair third down the straight track two days ago suggest he’s feeling good. Worth the risk at the odds. 6 Big Time Nico is needed in the quaddie but seems remarkably short in the market.
Selections: 2-6-8-5
Not always the cleanest beginner but he was still good enough to round up 2 Goldstar Koda here a fortnight ago. 7 Goldstar Hans is the current benchmark around here with three impressive swooping wins in four outings. He doesn’t want to give Atlas a start though.
Selections: 3-7-2-5
Won in this class here last Friday before a distant third at Manawatu. 4 Sister Shadow steps up in class. Had a genuine excuse at Manawatu. Still learning but is worth including at decent odds.
Selections: 2-4-5-6
Closed off well behind a form dog last Friday. Odds appeal in an open affair. 2 Big Time Alex has been super on the bigger tracks of late. Capable on this track too but there may be some outside pressure on him early.
Selections: 5-2-6-3
Unlucky second here last week then monstered a c1 field at Manawatu. Should justify the short odds.
Selections: 7-3-6-8
Huge third behind two of the best on Tuesday. In the right form to take on the champion 5 Federal Infrared.
Selections: 3-5-1-2
Slim pickings on this track for her in the past but gets a cracking opportunity in this field. 1 Goldstar Pearl lacks early pace but she should run right into this finish. 3 Uber Time downgrades. Couldn’t have her on last week’s effort but she has followed a rock with a diamond more than once.
Selections: 8-1-3-7
Recent efforts at Manawatu have been good enough & she’s a superior dog here. Tempting each way odds. 6 Big Time Bora is a quaddie must on her slick win here two starts back.
Selections: 2-6-7-1
Up in class after his smart win here two back. Appears to pick the start better on this track. Looks up to this.
Selections: 7-4-1-8
