Trackside commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his tips for all 15 races at the Palmerston North Greyhounds meeting on Tuesday 30 July, 2024.
Young, fast & strong. Hasn’t raced here but is trained locally. Should be repeating his win at Cambridge over 5 Big Time Special.
Selections: 8-5-1-7
Has been finding the line well enough in open company in the south. First race here but is vastly experienced. 5 Rock It Rapper has posted two fine wins here over 457m & has been running through the line well over 520m at Hatrick. Each way value. 3 Opawa Stacy is needed in the quadrella.
Selections: 2-5-3-7
Continues to cost himself by running so wide but should still go close to winning this. 3 Swift Shadow was run down here three starts back by a dog that has gone on with it.
Selections: 8-3-2-4
Beaten on debut by a dog that has now won six of nine. Smart young chaser facing a new track fresh up but can overcome. 1 Smart Bowler & 10 Hey Driver are running out maiden nominations after solid wins elsewhere.
Selections: 2-1-10-4
Fresh up win in this class was from the ace but she has the early pace to cheat this draw. 3 Big Time Ronald should be suited to 375m. 8 Goldstar Blondie closed off well behind Dixie & looks untapped.
Selections: 5-3-8-2
Recent downgrader won’t get it easier than this. Six starts ago she pushed Big Time Lime who is now c5.
Selections: 3-9-8-2
Silver Collar winner has been unstoppable since then including a thumping 660m win on this track. Quaddie anchor.
Selections: 2-6-1-3
Has been excellent here to date in stronger fields than this. Should be another anchor.
Selections: 4-8-7-1
Slower start was costly a fortnight ago but he was still a close fourth in a quick contest. Narrow nod In a competitive field where we might need the top four selections in exotics.
Selections: 1-6-7-3
Two fast c1 wins here & at Hatrick in the past week. Rise in class won’t trouble him. 2 Sun Strike arrives here for the first time having thumped three c1 fields in the deep south. Keeping safe in the quad.
Selections: 3-2-8-5
Given time to get over a below par run at Cambridge. Drops back to a sprint & will challenge this hot field from the ace. 8 Smoking Ivan is the benchmark this course & distance at present but drawing the outside trap provides a sterner test.
Selections: 1-8-6-5
Followed up his narrow win with a fair third behind two hot youngsters. Each way play. Might need the top four selections to get through the first leg of the final quadrella.
Selections: 3-7-6-1
Solid second in his only try here two starts back. Was handy at Cambridge before being hassled & getting swamped. Value. 4 Tira Miss You is up another class but is posting competitive times.
Selections: 5-4-1-6
Followed her super third here last Tuesday with a narrow win at Hatrick. Has been busy but has been thriving. 3 Big Time Lauren fought gamely for third. Closer draw helps this time.
Selections: 2-3-7-1
Displayed his champion qualities again last week to balance up & beat 5 Aston Bundy. Box 8 is ideal for him.
Selections: 8-5-3-7
