Commentator Mark Rosanowski provides his selections for every race at the Whanganui Greyhounds meeting on Friday 7 June, 2024.
Ran an open class time when qualifying this course/distance last Friday with super early sectionals. Through all multis.
Selections: 8-1-7-4
Two solid placings here & at Manawatu to start her career have been built on good starts. Similar effort probably has her winning this. 7 Fancy Strides led easily last week before putting in some awkward strides & dropping out. Keeping him safe.
Selections: 4-7-8-9
Impressive front-running performance to win in this class at Manukau. His box manners haven’t been as good here but hard to tip against just the same. 7 Big Time Urban drops back in distance for his first start on this track this year. Each way.
Selections: 4-7-8-3
Two easy wins in this class on roomier tracks. Ran an open class time when she won a maiden on this course. Turned in the traps in her only other outing here but that looks to be behind her.
Selections: 3-4-2-1
Was held wide & dropped out at Manawatu. She has looked better on this track of late including a swift second to a form dog a fortnight ago. Wide open affair with 2 Big Time Meghan offering surprisingly good odds.
Selections: 7-2-5-8
Is the only c3 racing c2s after his comfortable win last week. Not the ideal draw for him but remains the one to beat.
Selections: 8-1-3-7
Hampered at the first bend at Manawatu but ran through the line well as he did here the time before when a close fourth. Due some first bend racing luck.
Selections: 6-2-1-4
Nearly 5 years old but her recovery after early tightening last week was truly remarkable. If she runs up to that her odds will look very generous. 1 King Harvest won on debut here despite jostling & his third at Manawatu had merit. Hasn’t been quick off the lids to date.
Selections: 2-1-4-3
Ran down Blazin’ Master here three starts back & gunned down a Manawatu specialist on that track last start. Small field assists him.
Selections: 6-4-8-2
Led for a fair way at Manawatu midweek & a bump half way down the home straight took the sting out of her finish. Each way play in an open contest.
Selections: 3-5-2-6
Has a decent record on this track although she hasn’t been here since February. Beaten a long way when second at Manawatu but the winner ran a stunning time. Probably need the unpredictable 4 Big Time Morant on the quadrella ticket too.
Selections: 7-4-6-1
Ran a banging time here two starts back & two handy hounds beat him when he stepped up to this grade. Not easy for him out this wide but his each way odds are tempting.
Selections: 8-2-1-3
