Winx Stakes Barrier Draw Winners & Losers
Autumn Glow has come out on top from the 2026 Winx Stakes barrier draw, with the $1.90 favourite securing barrier 3.
The Chris Waller-trained mare looks ideally placed, especially with James McDonald in the saddle. From barrier 3, McDonald should have plenty of options and can choose where to settle before getting her into the clear around the turn.
It’s tough to find a better setup among the 2026 Winx Stakes runners. Sheza Alibi has drawn the inside gate, but that could be a sticky draw. Her race may depend heavily on how the runners around her position, which makes her a slightly risky bet compared to the favourite.
The 4YO mare will need the breaks at the right time to get off the rail. If she can follow a horse into the straight, she’ll have every chance to finish strongly. But if she gets stuck in traffic, Autumn Glow could have already put the race away by the time Sheza Alibi sees daylight.
Beiwacht also looks to have landed a handy draw in barrier four. He should be able to settle close to Autumn Glow and get his chance to challenge in the straight. At $18, he looks an interesting runner to include in Winx Stakes bets.
What to Expect in the 2026 Winx Stakes
The favourites look like the safest bet for punters at the TAB, but an upset isn’t out of the realm of possibility. It’s a Group 1 race, and if Autumn Glow or Sheza Alibi fail to bring their A-game, there are several runners capable of stepping up.
Beiwacht, Lady Shenandoah and Idle Flyer all have the talent to win first-up. Meanwhile, the two market leaders could need a run to find their best form.
However, we wouldn’t be shocked to see Autumn Glow and Sheza Alibi clear out. They are the class runners in the Winx Stakes, as the market suggests, and they are one of the most popular quinella bets in recent history, with stacks of money coming for them to finish 1-2.
