A big weekend of racing in Melbourne gets underway at Mornington on Saturday, with the Listed R.M. Ansett Classic headlining an eight-race card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showers are possible in the lead-up, but fine weather is forecast for race day. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the True position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several smart runners engaged, including our Best Bet in Race 7\u2014a talented mare resuming over 1200m in the Melbourne Handicap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The daughter to So You Think raced a little keen and was unlucky not to run a place, but she should find this much easier after also taking on Group 1 company in the Australasian Oaks at\u00a0Morphettvile\u00a0two back.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She\u2019s\u00a0likely still\u00a0looking for much further than\u00a01500m, but with a nice soft gate and some okay wet track form to her name,\u00a0she\u2019ll\u00a0be difficult to hold out if she lands midfield in the\u00a0early stages.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon Zahra\u2019s gelding was pipped on the line fresh at Bendigo three weeks ago over\u00a0100m\u00a0shorter, finding the front out of the turn before Alero got the better of him flashing down the outside.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He was sent around in a Group 2 last time in work in South Australia and was far from disgraced beaten only 3.5 lengths. Out to his preferred trip now with improvement still to come, he should run well with Jye McNeil sticking.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She went around in a similar race at Sandown first-up where she was the beaten\u00a0favourite, her condition simply giving way when it mattered when beaten half a length by\u00a0Behaviour.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The daughter to I Am Invincible has some nice second-up form to her resume, and providing\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0afforded running room down the straight from the inside alley, she should be\u00a0very hard\u00a0to beat with improvement still to come.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He went around last Saturday at Caulfield where on paper he finished 4.6 lengths off Emperor Tzu, but there was plenty to like about his late charge to the line where he rattled off some impressive middle times in the process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two straight runs over\u00a01800m\u00a0stacks\u00a0up well fitness-wise for this rise to\u00a02000m\u00a0and even though\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0drawn another horrible gate, he should be swooping in late again when it counts with Damien Thornton sticking.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We got a good look at this mare earlier in the autumn when she burst onto the scene with a solid two-length\u00a0win over the\u00a01200m\u00a0trip at Pakenham, and it didn\u2019t take her long to prove that wasn\u2019t a fluke when she went on to take out a pair of\u00a01400m\u00a0races at Flemington.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0lightly-raced\u00a0Russian Camelot gelding made a mess of his rivals in just his fourth start at Sandown on return, settling right back near last in the run before improving out of the bend to go on and win by 1.75 lengths.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s\u00a0still got improvement to come and a wide barrier to deal with on Saturday, but the light weight with Blake Shinn\u00a0retaining\u00a0the ride are two enormous ticks in the right boxes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
