We added a new Grand Slam champion to the list in Paris with Alexander Zverev breaking through for his maiden major title. Injury or illness were listed as the two things that could stop world no.1 Jannik Sinner and it eventuated as he lost 18 of the last 20 games. Weather will not be an issue here, but we have not seen him since which raises several question marks. The same applied to 7-time champion Novak Djokovic which gives life to the remainder of the field.<\/p>\n\n\n

A New Winner of the Men\u2019s Title ($3.40)<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div> \n <\/div> \n

There are only two former winners in the draw \u2013 Sinner and Djokovic. They may be the top two in betting but have fallen in the same half of the draw meaning only one of them can make the final. Both suffered disappointing early round losses at the French Open and have not played a single competitive match on grass leading into The Championships. In the meantime, the chasing pack have been able to get matches under the belt and more importantly, are gaining belief that they can beat them. We always fade the Americans in Paris, but this is where they shine. Shelton and Tiafoe won Stuttgart and Halle respectively with Fritz finishing runner-up in both tournaments. Tommy Paul also made a final and Jack Draper has made an impact in his return from injury. We are taking the field to beat Sinner and Djokovic.<\/p>\n

Jannik Sinner ($1.57):<\/strong> Cannot take the price on offer for Sinner \u2013 especially since we have not seen him since his body fell apart at the French Open. His win over Alcaraz in last year\u2019s final was arguably the best match of his career but we should not forget the Dimitrov had him on the ropes in the 4th Round. The Bulgarian won the first two sets before being forced to retire. With Alcaraz out injured Sinner was supposed to run the table this year and clean up all the majors. Suddenly, it does not look like that will be the case.<\/p>\n

Novak Djokovic ($7.00):<\/strong> Was on the \u2018forgets\u2019 list for the French Open but will always be a threat here. Has won this tournament 7 times and has made the semi finals or better in his last 7 appearances. His last three losses here have come against Alcaraz (twice) and Sinner with the Italian being the only player in the draw to have ever beaten him here. Djokovic may not publicly admit it but he has remained on the tour in the hope that he only needs to beat one of Sinner of Alcaraz to win a major. That is the case here with a potential semi final showdown.<\/p>\n

Ben Shelton ($17):<\/strong> The first and biggest tick is that Shelton is on the opposite site of the draw to Sinner and Djokovic. The biggest threats in his section are the duo of Fils and Mensik but both are making just their third appearance at the All England Club and we rarely see inexperienced players do well here (Alcaraz being the most notable exception). Claimed his third title of the season by winning Stuttgart and has made the final four of a major on two prior occasions. Has a booming serve and an accomplished net game \u2013 two things that will take him a long way over the next two weeks.<\/p>\n

Frances Tiafoe ($51):<\/strong> Form rather that prior success is becoming more relevant in the men\u2019s draw at the majors. The American was outstanding en-route to winning the title in Halle getting past Altmaier and Fritz in his final two matches without dropping serve. Zverev, Fritz, Draper and Bublik are the most notable names in his quarter, but we will be backing him against any of them.<\/p>\n

Alexander Zverev ($12):<\/strong> Deserves a mountain of credit for winning that elusive major title and is again on the opposite side of the draw to Sinner. The opinion of most is that he will now go on to win more majors, but he will not be adding to his haul here. Has never made it past the 4th Round of Wimbledon making this his worst major by a clear margin. The most interesting stat surrounding Zverev in 2026 \u2013 he is yet to beat a top 10 ranked player this year.<\/p>\n

Taylor Fritz ($21)\/Jack Draper ($34):<\/strong> Injuries have plagued Jack Draper for the last 18+ months, and it has seen him fall out of the top 100. The consequence of that is no seeding and the luck of the draw will see him meet Fritz in the 1st Round. Had they not been playing one another the duo would have been listed as threats to win the tournament but cannot take either one as a result.<\/p>\n

Casper Ruud ($201):<\/strong> Has never made it past the 2nd Round here and has a career 3-5 record in the tournament. Should be 1000-1 and even that is under the odds. His game does not translate well to grass, and this month is effectively a summer holiday for Casper.<\/p>\n

Arthur Fils ($126):<\/strong> Withdrew from the French Open die to injury so we will be steering clear of him here. Has only played Wimbledon twice and it will take a few more years for him to develop his grass game before he becomes a threat on this surface.<\/p>\n

Rafael Jodar ($67):<\/strong> Grass is foreign territory for the youngster and after a lengthy clay court swing he did the smart thing and took time off to recover. Not expecting anything from him here and as we saw at the French Open he will require more physical development to be able to handle best of five sets tennis over a two-week period.<\/p>\n

Daniil Medvedev ($51):<\/strong> Twelve months ago he beat Zverev in Halle before losing to Bublik in the final but was rolled in the 1st Round here by Benjamin Bonzi. Has lost in the opening round in 4 of his last 6 Grand Slam appearances which is unthinkable when you consider that he has wins over the likes of Alcaraz and Zverev in that stretch. Beat Sinner in the quarters here in 2024 but has drawn a former finalist in Marin Cilic for his first up assignment. We could see another first round exit from Medvedev.<\/p>\n

Alex De Minaur ($67):<\/strong> Was devastated following his loss at the French Open and the quarter finals remains his ceiling at the highest level. Is 0-7 in Grand Slam quarter finals and does not have the power game required to be successful in the second week of the majors.<\/p>\n

Joao Fonseca ($67):<\/strong> Posted a memorable win over Djokovic at the French Open but was rolled 6-2 6-2 by Hanfmann in Halle. It is a disgraceful result but something we have consistently seen from him. Nobody has more losses as a firm favourite on tour than Fonseca this season.<\/p>\n

Andrey Rublev ($151):<\/strong> The quarters used to be his cap at the Grand Slams but that has now become the 4th Round with an 0-5 record in his last 5 Round of 16 matches at the majors. No thanks.<\/p>\n

Alexander Bublik ($67):<\/strong> Had the perfect lead-up into last year\u2019s tournament by winning Halle with many believing he would make an impact when he got to the grounds of SW19. Instead, he lost to Jaume Munar in the 1st Round. Say no more.<\/p>\n

Stefanos Tsitsipas ($251):<\/strong> Not that long ago Tsitsipas was threatening to win every tournament that he contested. Is a two-time Grand Slam finalist but has failed to make it past the second round in his last 8 major appearances. His backhand continues to let him down and his best tennis is now in the read view mirror.<\/p>\n

Jakub Mensik ($34):<\/strong> Took his game to another level a the French Open where he beat De Minaur, Rublev and Fonseca in consecutive matches. Came up short against Zevrev in the semi\u2019s but the has not gone on with the task since. You cannot lose to Mannarino in the opening round of Queen\u2019s and then go on to win Wimbledon.<\/p>\n
