Fans were treated to a Messi clinic in what was a comfortable 3-0 win over Algeria. Austria also collected maximum points with a 3-1 victory over Jordan meaning top spot in Group J is up for grabs here. The defending champions have been on fire with 8 consecutive wins dating back to October last year and they have conceded just 1 goal in that stretch \u2013 a phenomenal defensive effort. It highlights their continuity as a unit as suggests that Austria will have a tough time finding the back of the net. Under 2.5 goals is 5-2 in Austria\u2019s last 7 fixtures and it is difficult to see them posing an attacking threat here. It took 66 minutes for France to break the deadlock against Senegal but they played a scintillating brand of football in the final half hour to win 3-1. Mbappe scored a double including a thunderbolt in injury time and will again be almost impossible to stop here. France have scored 2+ goals in 13 of their last 14 games including 3 or more in 5 of their last 7! Over 2.5 goals is 10-0 in their last 10 as a result and they could score more than a handful in this one if they can grab an early lead. Iraq were blown off the park 4-1 by Norway but were not shy to commit numbers forward when given the opportunity. This will create more space for France and that spells trouble. Already touched on Norway\u2019s dominance in their win over Iraq and the one player that deserves special mention is Erling Haaland. In his first ever appearance in this tournament he made an instant statement with two goals in the first half. Senegal will double up on him with Koulibaly and Niakhate which could create additional opportunities for Sorloth. Both teams to score has hit in 7 of Norway\u2019s last 8 games with Senegal finding the back of the net at least once in 12 of their last 13. Like the attacking mentality of both nations, not to mention the talent they possess in the front third of the field. With Senegal desperate for all three points this could develop into one of the most exciting games of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Losses in their respective opening group games makes this a must-win match for both nations \u2013 especially Jordan who will face Argentina in their final group game. Algeria have been installed as firm favourites but one must question if they are too short in the market. One thing that Jordan has shown leading into this tournament is that they can create opportunities. They had the same number of shots as Austria (11) and have scored at least once in 10 of their last 11 games. With 2+ goals in 6 of those fixtures an upset is not out of the question here. Algeria have failed to score in 3 of their last 6 and didn\u2019t have a single shot on target in their loss to Argentina.
