Djokovic has played a single clay court match leading in, Zverev has been comprehensively beaten by Sinner multiple times in 2026 and the young brigade of Fonseca and Jodar are yet to make an impact in best of five sets tennis. The recent form of Bonzi may not read great on paper but is one of a small group of players that has been able to win a set against Sinner. He is no stranger to causing an upset having defeated Medvedev in the opening round of Wimbledon last year and will have the benefit of home support with the French crowd. Warmer conditions should see the courts play slightly faster than normal which will provide the server with some advantage. It will make it difficult for Bonzi to make inroads on the Zverev serve but similarly will make holding serve easier. Liking the Overs as a single tiebreaker should be enough to get us over the line.

A single match on clay (loss to Prizmic) is hardly what we are used to seeing from Djokovic leading into the French Open but he finds the perfect opponent here in Mpetshi-Perricard. The Frenchman has one of the biggest serves on tour but that will account for very little in the matchup. Djokovic is one of the greatest returners we have ever seen and will neutralise the serve with ease. From that point he literally just needs to put the ball in play and the Frenchman will hand him the win by forcing the issue and making unforced errors. You cannot rely on breakers against Djokovic and it is worth noting that Mpetshi-Perricard has lost the last two tiebreakers he has contested.

Khachanov has made the quarters here twice and the 4th Round on 4 other occasions. The Russian is always a tough out at the majors and a very tough matchup for the French wildcard. Gea won his one and only Grand Slam match at the Australian Open earlier this year but has been stuck on the Challenger Tour where he has been struggling to string wins together. His best results have come on hard courts and he was a notable runner-up in the Boy\u2019s doubles at Wimbledon in 2023. Is yet to take the next step on the main tour and it is hard to see him winning more than a set here.

There has been an insane amount of hype surrounding Fonseca in the last 12 months. He has serious power from the back of the court but has consistently been overvalued by the market. Still raw, the Brazilian is to develop the match-management skills and consequently ends up losing matches that he shouldn\u2019t. Lost in the opening round at the Australian Open to Spizzirri (ranked 92) and has losses against Buse, Tabilo and Medjedovic on clay this season. Pavlovic has made it through the qualifiers so will be adapted to the court conditions. Taking him to win a set.
