A wonder goal from Amad Diallo earned the Red Devils a draw away to Nottingham Forest – extending their unbeaten run in the league to five games. The enigmatic winger had a chance in injury time to win them the game, but they remain in the top half and are making some very overdue progress. Spurs suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at home to London rivals Chelsea but will be hoping their attack can gain some momentum following a big 4-0 win over Copenhagen in their midweek UCL fixture.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spurs completed the season double over Man Utd (3-0 and 1-0) and are undefeated in their last 5 league meetings in this series. They have scored multiple goals in all but one of those games and that trend is likely to continue as Over 2.5 goals has hit in 75% of Spurs games after a loss in the last year. A 35% win rate in those matches is concerning for the home side but the visitors have their own issues with only 2 clean sheets in their last 19 away games. Both teams to score\/Over 2.5 goals has hit in 5 of Man Utd\u2019s last 6 games with 3 or more total match goals in each of their last 4 away EPL matches.<\/p>\n

United continue to struggle defensively (1 clean sheet in their previous 10 league games) but they have become far more threatening in attack with a total of 10 goals scored across their last 4 games. The Red Devils have firmed into favouritism and that cannot be ignored as it has been more than a year since Spurs won as a home underdog in the league with a draw and 7 losses in 8 attempts. An open contest with plenty of goals will favour United.<\/p>\n

Fulham ended a 4-game losing streak with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves, but they are yet to win on the road this season. Meanwhile, Everton came away from a trip to the Stadium of Light with a point but have not collected maximum points since they ended the long unbeaten run of Crystal Palace on Matchday 7. They are separated by a single point on the ladder which increases the importance of this contest.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Inconsistency has plagued Fulham in the last year. They claimed a very important win last week but have won only 3 of their previous 14 league games following a victory. The Cottagers have struggled on the road this season having lost their last 4 away games and being outscored 10-3 in those games. Everton were undefeated through their first 4 league games at Hill Dickinson Stadium but that came to an end in a 3-0 loss to Spurs a fortnight ago. Over 2.5 goals is 5-1 in Fulham\u2019s last 6 games and they have notably found the back of the net at least once in 16 of their last 19 away league matches.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Backing Under 2.5 goals in Everton home games has been a staple of ours for an extended period but Fulham have a habit of being involved in games where the goals flow from both ends of the pitch. Clean sheets are non-existent for Fulham in away games, but they are consistent with respect to finding the back of the net on the road. Everton have allowed 10 goals in their last 6 EPL fixtures and I cannot see them keeping Fulham out in this one. Despite their poor record both away from home and following a win, Fulham are the value play at the current price.<\/p>\n

West Ham had tallied just a single point from their previous 6 games leading into their battle against Newcastle last week and stunned everyone with a 3-1 win. Conceding inside the opening five minutes almost worked in their favour but they will not win many games this season having only 37% possession. Burnley were seeking a 3rd win in as many games when they hosted Arsenal, but the league leaders were very comfortable in a 2-0 win.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no shame in losing to Arsenal at present and we should remember that 2 of Burnley\u2019s 3 wins this season came on the back of a loss. One thing is for certain, there is a distinct difference between their matches played at Turf Moor and away from home. Their 5 home games have produced a combined total of 9 goals with Under 2.5 holding in all 5 games. It has been the opposite on the road where Over 2.5 goals is 5-0 with a total of 24 goals across those games! West Ham\u2019s defensive struggles have seen Over 2.5 goals hit in 9 of their last 12 league matches – a streak that will likely continue here.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Burnley have scored at least once in each of their last 4 away games which includes multiple goals away to Man Utd and Wolves. A single win from the Hammers should not see their piece wound in as much as it has as they have been victorious in only 2 of their last 6 attempts as a home favourite. Burnley double chance looks enticing as does a bet for the outsider to win a high scoring game.<\/p>\n

Sunderland\u2019s surprise start to the season continued with a 1-1 draw at home to Everton being enough to maintain a spot in the top 4. This week they face the ultimate test – a battle against league leaders Arsenal who are coming off a 5th consecutive win and sit six points clear at the top. A point would be an enormous result for the home side.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been close to a decade since they last met in the Premier League and Sunderland will be hoping for more joy this time around. The Gunners are undefeated in the last 15 EPL clashes in this series which includes wins in 7 of the last 9. Arsenal have won their last 3 away games and are undefeated as an away favourite in the last year (11 wins, 6 draws). Sunderland\u2019s results this season command respect as they are undefeated at the Stadium of Light this season and have registered 2 wins and 2 draws in their four games as a home underdog in that stretch. Under 2.5 goals is 4-0 in the Gunners last 4 games and 3-0 in Sunderland\u2019s last 4 at home.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Declared Under 2.5 in the Burnley\/Arsenal game last week and although the market has finally adjusted, we will be sticking with it here. Through 10 games, these are the two best defensive teams in the competition. Arsenal have conceded a grand total of 3 goals while Sunderland have allowed just the 3 goals in 5 home matches played. Under 2.5 goals has held on in 4 of Sunderland\u2019s 5 games following a win this season and in 64% of Arsenal games in the same scenario but over the last 12 months. Predicting a repeat of last week with Arsenal to win 1-0 or 2-0.<\/p>\n

A single goal from Joao Pedro was enough for Chelsea to walk away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with maximum points and a run of 3 wins in their last 4 league games has seen them climb back up to 7th spot. They were disappointing in a 2-2 draw away to Qarabag in the UCL but the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Neto and Caicedo among others did not play. Meanwhile, it was the same old story for Wolves who were handily beaten 3-0 away to Fulham. We may still be a long way from Christmas but are getting close to pencilling in Wolves for relegation.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea\u2019s form at Stamford Bridge has been unpredictable this season. They beat Liverpool but went down to the duo of Brighton and Sunderland. The Blues have dropped points in 7 of their 19 home games played in the last year but their battles against Wolves last season suggest they will be hard to beat. They did the double over Wolves 6-2 and 3-1 with Over 2.5 goals going 6-1 in the last 7 league games in this series. Wolves have had difficulty scoring goals on the road and have been held to nil in 7 of their previous 11 away losses. That said, Chelsea have conceded at least once in each of their last 3 EPL matches at this ground.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

The gap to safety is getting bigger by the week for Wolves and it could increase further as they will not be leaving Stamford Bridge with any points. It has rained goals in this matchup with an average of 4.0 goals per game across the last 7 encounters between them. With Wolves defence non-existent and Chelsea susceptible to conceding at home we will be backing the Overs and alternate goal markets with high confidence.<\/p>\n

After collecting a single point across their previous three games, Crystal Palace were able to steady the ship with a solid 2-0 win at home to Brentford. Brighton were also able to bounce back after a loss with a dominant 3-0 performance over Leeds. Both have elevated themselves back into the top half on the back of those results and every point matters as a total of only 4 points separated 2nd and 11th on the ladder.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Palace achieved a rare season double over Bournemouth 3-1 and 2-1 after having gone 6 games without a win in this matchup. Both teams to score has hit in 9 of the last 10 meetings and despite the defensive prowess of the home side, we must consider Brighton capabilities when on the road. They have found the back of the net at least once in 89% of away games in the last year and have claimed at least a point in 13 of their previous 16 games following a loss. Over 2.5 goals has hit in 69% of those matches but has occurred in only 1 of the last 5 battles between these two at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Few teams have been able to keep a clean sheet when hosting Brighton and I don\u2019t see Crystal Palace being one of them here. Brighton have scored multiple goals in 4 of their last 7 away games and that includes games played at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – three of the most testing road trips in the EPL. Rate both teams to score as the best bet and will not be surprised if Brighton take all three points on the back of scoring 2-3 goals.<\/p>\n

A 2-2 home draw against an in-form Man Utd side is the first step in the right direction for Forests\u2019 new manager Sean Dyche and they get a good chance to build on the back of that against a Leeds side that has experienced troubles on the road. Leeds were never in the contest in a 3-0 loss away to Bournemouth and will not want to concede another early goal when they travel to City Ground.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leeds have compiled a stellar record following a loss this season with 3 wins and a draw on the back of their previous five defeats. The problem for them here is that the bulk of those games have been played at Elland Road. That is not the case here and they have lost 4 of their 5 away games so far this season with their only win coming away to the bottom side in the competition (Wolves). Over 2.5 goals has hit in 5 of Leeds last 6 games leading into this contest and despite Forest picking up a draw last week, they have conceded multiple goals in each of their last four games.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Outside of their 3-1 win away to Wolves, Leeds have failed to find the back of the net in their four other away games. If Nottingham Forest can replicate the brand of football they played against Man Utd last week they will end a run of 9 games without victory. If we consider last week\u2019s performance on its own then Forest should be odds on in betting. Like them to win and have them maintaining a clean sheet in the process.<\/p>\n

Home wins over Man Utd, Liverpool and Aston Villa this season cannot be ignored. Brentford have been very profitable in this spot with 5 wins and 3 draws from their last 11 games as a home underdog while Newcastle have won 7 of their previous 13 as a road favourite. Newcastle\u2019s 7\/3\/2 (win\/draw\/loss) record following a loss in the last year looks good on paper but when considering price, they have provided a net loss in those games. In contrast, Brentford have yielded a profit on turnover of 191% after a loss in the same period with 8 wins, 4 draws and just the one defeat. Both teams to score has hit in 5 of the last 6 meetings with an average of 4.2 goals per game across those matches.<\/p>\n

The Magpies may have bounced back with a 2-0 win in their midweek UCL clash against Spain\u2019s Athletic Club but the market is disrespecting the home side here. Not only have Brentford scored 2+ goals in 3 of their last 4 home games, but they have done so against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd. Both teams to score & Over 2.5 goals is the bet of the week with Brentford to win on the back of multiple goals scored a nice value bet.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth\u2019s run of 8 games without defeat was on the line when they travelled to Etihad Stadium but went down 3-1 to Man City despite ending the game with 52% possession – a rarity against a Pep Guardiola side.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Good teams respond well to adversity, but Aston Villa and Bournemouth have underperformed in this spot. Both have won 4 of their last 10 games following a loss and have netted a negative return to bettors across those games. That is countered for Villa by a record 10 wins, 5 draws and only 1 loss in their last 16 as a home favourite but it is worth noting that Bournemouth have earned at least a point in 67% of games as an away underdog in the last year. Aston Villa are undefeated in their last 5 in this series (3 wins, 2 draws) but they will need goals to win this game as Over 2.5 goals has hit in 16 of Bournemouth\u2019s last 18 games on the road.<\/p>\n

It is all about goals when Bournemouth go on the road. Not only have both teams scored in their last 3 away games but there have been 4+ total match goals in those matches. Villa have registered just the one clean sheet in their last 6 games and will also be on the short turnaround following a Europa League battle against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Like both teams to score in what could be one of the highest scoring games of the weekend.<\/p>\n

What a way to end the round!!! One of these two teams has won the Premier League title in each of the last 8 seasons and they currently sit 2nd and 3rd respectively on the ladder. City have found their feet after a slow start with the 3-1 win over Bournemouth making it 4 wins in their last 5. The same cannot be said about Liverpool who had lost four in a row prior to the 2-0 win over Aston Villa but a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League just days ago will have them brimming with confidence.<\/p>\n

Stats That Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

When two of the best attacking teams face off our natural inkling is that they will play out a contest with a handful of goals. That has not been the case in this series with Under 2.5 goals going 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. Liverpool won both meetings last season by the same scoreline (2-0) but had been victorious in only 1 of the previous 9 league meetings against Man City. Under 2.5 goals has saluted in 63% of Man City games following a win in the last year and 4 of their last 6 games leading into this one. Interestingly, Liverpool have been installed as an away outsider only twice in the last year and have lost both games.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Liverpool lead the league in possession (61.4%) but you wouldn\u2019t know it if you watched their last two competitive matches. They barely won the possession battle against Aston Villa (53\/47) and against Real Madrid were able to register a 1-0 win despite having only 39% of the ball. Expecting a very similar scenario to that here with Liverpool content to set their defensive structure and play almost exclusively on the counter. Man City will be patient in their build up as always and unlike what we may see against lower-ranked teams, they will not be taking any unnecessary risks. Shocked to see Under 2.5 goals at the current price and will be having a piece of 0-0 as the correct score at half time.<\/p>\n
