Royal Randwick<\/a> will play host to three Group One events this Saturday, with the Epsom Handicap<\/a>, The Metropolitan<\/a> and Flight Stakes<\/a> set to headline a mammoth day of racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Premiere Stakes<\/a> will also be run and won and as a pivotal step towards the $20m The Everest<\/a> to run in two weeks, all eyes will be watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUNSET PARK<\/strong> is very honest and looks well placed to get another win on the board.<\/p>\n

The daughter of Sea The Stars was a dominant winner over 1800m at Hawkesbury at her second run back from a break and has only been run down late at her past two.<\/p>\n

Following on from that victory and she stuck on gamely for second after working in the early art to take up the lead over the 1800m at Rosehill.<\/p>\n

Last start over 1900m, she again set the pace but was just found wanting late.<\/p>\n

The drop back to 1800m will suit and the low draw is a big plus.<\/p>\n

Prepared by the Waterhouse \/ Bott team, the Stay Inside colt has just been given the one public hit out where he shot away to post a 7.8 length margin after leading the heat.<\/p>\n

He was asked to give his all but so we’re his competitors and they couldn\u2019t make up any ground on him.<\/p>\n

The son of Pierata debuted in fine style with a strong win over 1200m at Rosehill and he was doing his best work late over 1300m at his following outing as he only missed by the barest of margins.<\/p>\n

Last start in the Ming Dynasty, he was caught wide in the early part but still finished off strongly to claim third.<\/p>\n

The way he finds the line suggests he’ll relish the rise in trip, and he gets in very nicely here under the set weights conditions.<\/p>\n

IDLE FLYER<\/strong> is unbeaten in two runs this campaign and I think she can make it three straight.<\/p>\n

She charged through along the rail to record a commanding win when making her return over 1250m and was equally as impressive as she charged to the line second up to win by almost a length over the 1400m here.<\/p>\n

With five wins from just nine starts, the daughter of Dundeel is not short of talent and whilst this is s tep up in grade, she gets in nicely with the allocation of 52kgs.<\/p>\n

If Ben Thompson can slot in and find cover early, I think she’ll be too strong for them late.<\/p>\n

APOCALYPTIC<\/strong> is looking for three straight victories after taking out both the Furious Stakes and the Tea Rose and it\u2019s hard to see them turning the tables on her here.<\/p>\n

The Extreme Choice filly was sent to the paddock after her debut run, where she was an unlucky runner up and she’s certainly returned in fine order.<\/p>\n

Out to the 1400m last start in the Tea Rose, she was three wide and exposed throughout but was dominant over the final part as she kicked away to score by almost lengths.<\/p>\n

She looks well suited stepping out to the mile for the first time, and I think she’ll be too good for them once again.<\/p>\n

JIMMYSSTAR<\/strong> is sure to relish the rise in trip as he just found the 1000m too short when resuming in the Concorde Stakes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He only got going late after settling back at the tail and I think we’ll see him settle a bit handier this time.<\/p>\n

He was sent back to the trials last week and looked sharp in the 1030m heat as he speared out of the gates and kicked away to win the heat.<\/p>\n

The six-year-old son of Per Incanto has continued to rise through the grades and took it to a new level in the Autumn with two Group 1 victories.<\/p>\n

In the small field, he can settle within striking distance and unleash late under Ethan Brown.<\/p>\n

AUTUMN GLOW<\/strong> remains unbeaten after taking out the Theo Marks Stakes last start.<\/p>\n

In the 1300m event, the Chris Waller trained mare powered away over the final furlong to score by over two lengths and take her record to six wins form six starts.<\/p>\n

After a solid first up win in very heavy conditions, the daughter of The Autumn Sun showed her class as there were no signs of any second up flatness.<\/p>\n

I think she’ll enjoy stepping out to 1600m as her first Group 1 success awaits in the Epsom Handicap.<\/p>\n

BIRDMAN<\/strong> lines up full of confidence after taking out the Kingston Town Stakes and I think he\u2019ll be even better again as he steps out to 2400m<\/p>\n

The former Irish galloper took a while to break through on Australian soil, but he’s continued to improve and showed more than enough with some very encouraging staying performances in the Autumn.<\/p>\n

Narrowly when resuming on the Spring Preview at Rosehill, he then produced a solid second up effort in the Chelmsford Stakes as he closed off strongly into fifth.<\/p>\n

He certainly appreciated the rise to 2000m last time and having won over the 2414m and 2616m back in his homeland, he looks well suited here.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll carry just 51.5kgs and there aren\u2019t too many better to have aboard in staying races than Kerrin McEvoy.<\/p>\n

RAIKKONEN<\/strong> will kick off his campaign in the last on Epsom Handicap Day.<\/p>\n

The Bjorn Baker trained gelding has shown plenty of promise in his seven career starts and hasn\u2019t always had things go his way.<\/p>\n

He resumed last preparation with a authoritative win over 1200m at Gosford which earnt him a trip to Brisbane to contest the Group 3 Fred Best.<\/p>\n

It was a hard watch as he was never closer than five wide, and always exposed, it was a gallant effort to finish only a length off them in fourth.<\/p>\n

He returned to Randwick, where he produced a solid effort to finish fourth in the Civic Stakes prior to a spell.<\/p>\n

With three wins and a second placing from four starts at 1200m, he looks ideally placed and he’s ready to go off two solid trials.<\/p>\n
