Jackpots occur when some of the betting pool is not struck. It could be that no-one selects the correct combination, or that only a percentage of it is struck. The way that the jackpot is treated is different for certain bet types:
Each day First4 Jackpots can occur. These go to the next available race at the same meeting and are shown up in the top table on this page. If a Jackpot occurs on the last race of a meeting, then any unstruck funds go forward to Bonus pools.
From Monday 22 May:
If the betting pool is not completely struck in the Early Quaddie then any unstruck funds go forward to the late Quaddie, except where a meeting has 7 or less races.
If the betting pool is not completely struck in the late Quaddie then any unstruck funds go forward to bonus pools, except if the pool is Terminating.
As a rule, any unstruck Pick6 funds go forward to the Pick6 on the same day the following week. There are exemptions to this rule including instances where Pick6s, that fall on the same day the following week, operate on a different code. When this happens the jackpot will carry forward to the next corresponding Pick6 from that code. Details of Pick6 jackpots and guaranteed amounts are always displayed in the above Jackpot information.
Bonus money comes from unstruck First4 & Quaddie pools for each code. The Bonus money listed is just the starting pool size and the pool will get much bigge
