The football pools were not struck last week and this week’s guaranteed jackpot will be $11,000.
Match 1: Manchester United v Liverpool
This is a classic confrontation between two of the more successful clubs in the English Premiership. United went to London at the weekend and came from 3-nil down to grab a 3-3 draw with Chelsea, and they are now two points behind Manchester City, in second place. Liverpool are not having their best season and after a 0-0 draw at home with Tottenham they remained in seventh place on the ladder.
Recommendation: Manchester United 1 to 2, Draw
Match 2: Norwich v Bolton
This is a really important game for both clubs and could have huge ramifications at the end of the season when three teams are relegated to the Championship. At the moment, Blackburn is second last on the table while QPR sits just above the relegation zone. Blackburn needs to recover quickly from their 7-1 drubbing by Arsenal last week while QPR lost 2-1 to Wolves.
Recommendation: Draw
Match 3: Bolton v Wigan
Another match that could determine relegation, or not, at the end of the season. Both clubs are in the bottom three and demotion to the Championship is a real possibility. Bolton lost last week, to Norwich, while Wigan was able to grab a 1-1 result from Everton. Home advantage might do it for Bolton.
Recommendation: Bolton 1 to 2
Match 4: Everton v Chelsea
Everton is mid-table in the Premiership, while Chelsea is fourth and will be desperate to secure three points and put pressure on those above them. Chelsea has an excellent away record this season and that should see them take the points.
Recommendation: Chelsea 1 to 2
Match 5: Fulham v Stoke
Only three points separates these two sides on the table and both are coming off last game losses, Fulham to Manchester City, and Stoke to Sunderland. Fulham can be really tough to bowl at home, but Stoke has won four on the road this season. Another close one.
Recommendation: Fulham 1 to 2, Draw
Match 6: Sunderland v Arsenal
This won’t be an easy game for an Arsenal side which is coming off a massive 7-1 win against Blackburn last week. Sunderland is having a very solid season, and after their 1-nil win over Stoke last weekend, they sit eighth on the Premiership table, just two places behind their rivals.
Recommendation: Arsenal 1 to 2
Match 7: Swansea v Norwich
Swansea’s good season continued last weekend when they scored their second away win of the season, 2-1 at West Brom. Norwich is another side promoted from the Championship last season and they sit just above their rivals on the table after a 2-nil win last weekend over Bolton. Swansea has lost just once at home this season.
Recommendation: Swansea 1 to 2
Match 8: Tottenham v Newcastle
Tottenham are having one of their best seasons for many years and are comfortably sitting in third place on the table. Newcastle made a great start to the season but their form has evened out and after last week’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa they sit in fifth place in the Premiership. Spurs have lost just once at home this season.
Recommendation: Tottenham 1 to 2
Game 9 Wolves v West Brom.
One of the keys to this match is that West Brom are very useful away from home, with five wins so far. Wolves are in relegation trouble, and they tend to struggle at home, so we’ll go for the away team in this one.
Recommendation: West Brom 1 to 2
Game 10 Aston Villa v Manchester City
Villa can be tough at home but it’s hard to imagine Manchester City, the leaders in the Premiership, dropping points in this game. City simply looked to be too good for their opponents.
Recommendation: Manchester City 1 to 2, 3 or more
