Pacing

A type of Harness Racing gait. When pacing, a horse moves both legs on the same side, forward at the same time, while pushing back with both legs on the other side. Viewed from the driver’s position, in the sulky, pacers appear to wobble from side to side as they pace – hence the nickname “wobblers”/ To help them stay pacing (and not galloping) pacers wear straps called hopples that join their front and back legs on each side.
