A challenging new bet type that gives you the chance to win big dividends!

What is a First4? 

In the example below the First4 result would be 4-7-1-3. 

First4 will be available through all customer channels; however it is not be available on SKYbet or TXTbet. It will initially be available on nominated races only, before being available on all races in early 2009. Please refer to the race form lists to see which races offer First4.

Initially the First4 will only be offered on the fourth and the final race of a domestic day or twilight meeting and the first and the fourth race of a domestic night meeting (starting after 5pm).

The elements of First4 are not exactly the same as a Trifecta, as the First4 can jackpot. If no one strikes 100 per cent of the winning combination for the First4 on a race, there will be a jackpot to the next First4 race at that meeting.

4 ways to play First4 
There are four different types of First4 betting - Straight, Boxed, Multiple and Roving Banker First4’s. Here is a brief explanation of what these terms mean: 

First4
A straight First4 is where you tell us exactly which placings your runners will come in. You mark one selection in the first, second, third and fourth columns on the betslip or online.

Boxed First4 
Boxed allows your selections to finish first, second, third and fourth in ANY order. Boxing four selections gives you 24 combinations with which you can win First4. To Box your runners simply mark all your selections in the first column only.

Multiple First4 
You can increase your chances by selecting multiple selections in any of the first four positions. This will give you multiple First4 combinations. And example would be where you select two or more runners to finish 1st, with a number of other runners to finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th. 

Roving Banker First4 (Roving 1st, 2nd and 3rd ONLY)
To take a Roving Banker First4 mark First4 and RB on the Racing Pools betslip, and mark your selections in the first four columns. You will receive three tickets with the runner(s) you marked in column one appearing for 1st, then for 2nd, then for 3rd. The runners you mark in columns two and three will occupy the other two placings (2nd & 3rd, then 1st & 3rd, then 1st & 2nd) with the runners you mark in column four appearing in 4th on all three bet tickets.

-        Group A - the Roving Banker (runners selected from 1st column)

-        Group B (runners selected from 2nd column)

-        Group C (runners selected from 3rd column)

-        Group D (runners selected from 4th column)

…to automatically assign the following as the selections in the bet:

Note: All three bets are created as part of the Roving Banker First4.

Easybet and Percentage (%) betting is also available on First4.

Easybet First4 is where you tell us how much you want to spend and the computer selects your runners for you.

% First4 is where you tell how much you want to spend and which runners you want. If you bet comes in you get a percentage (%) of the dividend.

Joker - If you mark the Joker, the computer will select a runner for you. In any leg, you can mark just one Joker or a mixture of the Jokers alongside your own selections.
